Should I Build a List in the Air Conditioner "Niche"?

I have built an Amazon site selling air conditioners.
Do you think it would be worth while to build a list?

I could easily put together a buyers guide or something to give away.
But if someone is looking to buy some AC, what could I offer them in the future?

Whats worth communicating to them via email related to AC?

I read somewhere about a guy selling air conditioners from amazon and did quite well. I guess it wouldn't hurt if you built a targeted list of people that were ready to buy and air conditioner. As they say it takes a prospect 7 times to read an email before they buy.

I say go for it. If it doesn't work out then move on. It's all about testing.

Sure, you should have a mailing list no matter which is your niche. Most of the people do not buy the first time they see your offer (in that case, they see the product in your aStore). If you don't have a list you cannot go after them and you are going to lose many sales.

You could always offer them something other than the standard report.

Why not make up a review/comparison report based not on generic A/C facts, but on something to actually help them pick YOUR PRODUCT A or YOUR PRODUCT B.

Tell them which products are best versus cheapest, and explain which product to buy from you depending on their needs. That way they aren't deciding whether or not to buy from you, but which product.

    My 2c LOL

Yea Colin, this was exactly the sort of "report" I was thinking. A sort of buyers guide. Thanks for the suggestions.

Not sure whether you are selling window/wall units, central air or both... I live in South Florida where A/C is a necessity! My home has central but I have rental properties that have window or wall units so I'd be interested in topics on both types of A/C such as:

      Troubleshooting
      Energy efficiency
Preventive maintenance (what should I be doing to keep my A/C's in good shape so they don't break down)
Extended warranties (are they worth it?)
Ways to increase my A/C's cooling power (are ceiling fans a good idea?, planting shade trees to cool the house, using curtains, shades, etc to keep rooms cooler, the importance of windows (are your windows leaking out cold air- how to prevent this)

      Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for this helpful information. Nothing like getting the word right from the horses mouth!

Actually people who buy AC units NEVER buy anything else for their home so it wouldn't be worth emailing anything to a list of AC BUYERS.
      Yea....that makes sense...

If someone owns a home and is interested in an air conditioner it only follows that they would want a new fence or some gardening materials.

Give me a break and keep your thoughtless blathering to yourself.

People who buy air conditioners will buy a whole pile of other stuff so clearly you could do well educating them on the value of other products and services starting with things that are more closely related to air conditioning then working out based on the kinds of responses you get.

        Kindest regards,
