How many articles to make $3000 this month?

This is a question to any and all warriors using article marketing. I am not a beginner, I've been researching for a while but now am in need of money desperately. My plan of attack would be using article marketing to post articles and promote clickbank products for commission. My question to warriors are how many articles would I need to write this month to make $3000 for the month?

I prefer answers from warriors who are currently doing this, rather than just based on theory, since I've tried theory before and real life has offered me different results.

Thank you all.

Yes, too many factors come in to play.
By the way, for most online marketers, to make $3000 per month is not an easy job indeed. Good luck!

How about 210 articles, 450 words each, submitted to
        EzineArticles.com ? That's only 7 master pieces per day...

        Just kidding

I know a lot of money can be made by a single article alone, but my question is to conservatively estimate the performance of each article.

As Nando stated there is way to many factors. What products? How much do they pay? How long are the articles? How many people come to the articles? How many of those people are targeted traffic? How many of them will convert ect.

Well i have been doing article marketing since July of 2009 and have never come close to that. Is it possible to make that much a month with article marketing? Probably. How many articles would you have to pump out to get there? I have no clue. More than i want to write.

Yeah I know there's many factors, this is why I want opinions from warriors who are currently following my strategy.

I think, though, that an average clickbank commission is $30. So then I would need 100 sales for the month to make $3000.

That's about 3 sales a day. I'm not sure about what to expect for conversion rates...maybe 100 clicks = 1 sale? I hope more experienced warriors can chime in.

    Hmmmm.... interesting question.

I assume you are redirecting your resource box link to the sales page of the affiliate product?

So, if 100 clicks from your resource box - 1 sale (or basically $30) how many clicks per article could you get. Maybe you could take an average of the resource box clicks from the articles you currently have and come up with a number?

Would it be 10 clicks? 20? 20 clicks per article would mean you would need 50 articles (right?)

But it's not really that simple because the articles will get many views when they are new and then taper off unless you do some linking to get them ranked. Of course, it all depends on the keywords etc...

I agree with the folks above who say there is really too many variables but if you go by your past performance with articles then you might be able to come up with some sort of number that you could shoot for.

However, if you desperately need $3000 then the surer bet is to simply hire yourself out to write articles. At $10 an article you would only need to write 300 articles.

      I agree

Go to elance.com or sites like that. Find someone with a budget looking for article writers and write the articles for them at a good price.

Trying to average your income through the question "how many articles..." is really just too vague.

If you are looking to average $3k per month in income through article marketing, you really should find three or four niches to do market research in.

find the best keyword strings with between 20K and 500K search results with over 1000 search volume per month.

In your author bio box, instead of writing a short little bio, write something like this:

"Now that you've learned 5 steps to better "back scratching... let's see if you are ready to take it to the next level. Obviously an article can only cover so much. To find out more on better ways to scratch your back click here (aff link)"

This is more of a call to action within your bio box and blends as a nice high converting outro for your article's call to action.

Then, take your articles and turn them into slides. Yep... powerpoints. Submit them to places like docstoc or slideshare (great traffic and click through rates)

Then, screen capture those slides and turn them into videos.

submit them through tubemogul or traffic geyser.

Repurpose your article content into multi media and distribute to all of the large networks.

      Think about it this way:

      1 article = 1 pdf = submit to slideshare.com

      = 3-5 videos = submit to 25 video directories

      = 1 power point = submit to docstoc.com

submit the article to the top three article directories (be sure to spin and rewrite)

Now... one article is showing up in 30 places as different types of content, with different types of viewers all allowing you to show up in the search engines more.

Just be sure your call to action is always within your content and your descriptions at these sites.

All in all... if you want $3k ... put in the work to get it.

      Hope that helps

        Bob,
That's a fantastic point - The number of articles required to meet or exceed $3000 is directly proportional to the amount of leverage you obtain from each article.

The more ways the article is used (recycled) the lower the overall number that should be needed to meet the target objective.

There are too many variable but here is my experience: If you want to make $3000 you probably will want to build a list in a particular market. This way your prospects will be exposed to your message more than once.

Let's just say for arguments sake that each article you write gets 5 clicks in a month and you send them straight to a sales page.

To make 100 sales at a 1% conversion you would need 10,000 visitors. So in this case you would need 2000 articles to get there!

But if you build a list you can convert 5% of your list within 30 days if you know how to market to your list and you're getting extremely TARGETED TRAFFIC.

So both ways work. Also remember though, who says you have to promote a product that gives you $30 commission?

There are a few descent products on Clickbank that'll give you $50,$80 or even $97 per sale.

As an experienced article marketer I can tell you that the exact number is impossible to predict.

Honestly, even if I wanted to make an extra $3000 a month I would have no clue as to how many articles I would need to write and submit because I don't usually shoot for a quick fix - most of my writing and submitting articles is geared towards creating future profits.

However, if you can write then I would recommend you follow what Lee (CashCow) suggested which is to write for profit. This way you can tell exactly how many articles you need because you can create the price yourself and then divide $3000 by that number which will give you the approximate number you will need.

If by chance you are full of energy and have the time then for every article you write and sell I'd write one for yourself and submit it this way you are creating an instant income while simultaneously setting yourself up for future success.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll probably start out writing articles for myself and submitting them, see what kind of stats I get, and then if I'm not satisfied I'll probably start writing for others.

To make $3000 a month, you need to write 12.623 articles.

    Seriously...

You could write a thousand unique articles and make zero dollars. Another person could write three articles and make a few grand.

It depends on the product you are pushing, the salesmanship of your writing, and what color underwear you are wearing.

        Hi trigger,

When someone like Tim Gorman gives you advice, it's gold, and you can take it to the bank. You asked for answers from people who are really doing this and not just theory, Tim Gorman has been doing this for a long time, and more importantly, Successfully. Pay attention to what he's told you, the guy has been doing this successfully for quite a while.

Here's what concerns me, in you 1st post you said, "am in need of money desperately," listen pal, many of us have been right there. Here's the deal, writing 100 or 300 articles and getting a commission from a ClickBank product is not going to help if you're desperate...I'm sorry but it's true.

After getting some Really good advice to 'write some articles for someone else' (from Lee, Cashcow, another person who's been there, done that, not just theory) you said you'd write your own articles first. That direction lies heartbreak and more desperation. E. Brian Rose injected some levity into this, but here's another warrior with real world experience, please listen up to them, they got the real-world-internet experience you asked for.

Now, here's the deal, there are many (more now because the high lord Guru's have all jumped on the "Offline" thing) Warriors who do real-world SEO for Offline Clients. They need help and they need writers and they need articles and blog posts and they even need articles spun into different versions. That way lies money....cash remuneration...moola, for you. 600 articles at $5 equals $3,000. 600 articles is 100 Warriors who need 6 articles OR, Real-World (this is how I order my articles) Offline People order 20 articles at a time, you get 30 Warriors (there are 195,000 members on this forum) 30 Warriors is pittance, 30 Warriors times 20 articles is 600 articles times $5....WHOA DUDE you made $3,000 and NOW you're not desperate.

There are thousands of Warriors who need articles to sell ClickBank items, Amazon items, CJ items...there are thousands of people on this forum you need....(drumroll and trumpet)...You!

You become "The $5 Guy" or "The $5 Gal" for 3 months, you build up a HUGE clientele who trust you, and love your work, and most importantly...THEY NEED YOU. After 3 months of OVER DELIVERING (give them a 'bonus' article every once in a while, help them with keywords, you know how to do this)... tell them, "I really like working with you, it's been my pleasure and I hope I've given you what you need (You...you...you, always good) now my work load is so full that I want to work with the best, that would be you...AND I will continue to over-deliver to you. I'm raising my rate to $7.50, because that's Fair to You and that's Fair to me. (Don't apologize, don't rationalize, don't even explain, if they love your work, they won't even care and no explanation is necessary)

Trig, if you lose a few clients, that's good, they didn't appreciate you...600 articles at $7.5 is $4,500 a month, now you're running a business, not just writing articles.

          Great post Tony!

Trigger, you should listen to the advice given to you by quite a few experienced members here and become a freelancer (if you are desperate for money).

          Always over deliver.
          Never miss a deadline.
Always spell check and proof read your articles before sending them off.
          Charge ~$1/100 words.

A long (-ish) time ago I was in a similar situation (I needed around $5000 to start a business). So I started writing articles. Three months later I had saved up the $5000 and started my business.

I went from writing over 300 articles/month to buying 400-800 articles/month in around 4 months time.

Careful planning, focus, dedication and a lot of hard work always lead to success.

Just don't screw people over if you decide to go the freelance route. Writing articles is a lot of work and can be very overwhelming at first.

          Go get em pal,
          Tony

I think $3000 profit in a month starting from scratch is going to be a tall order. The reason I say this is because you will need a fair number of articles so will most likely have to outsource, and this can take time to get someone who writes good quality for the right price.

There are many different setups to consider, for example:

    - article linking to squeeze page and then autoresponder to make sales
    - put article on website with affiliate links/adsense first and use article submissions for backlinks so you also get seo traffic to a website you own.
    - create article spin templates and distribute over web with a link direct to a cpa/affiliate offer

I have tried all those. Creating a list is good if you are in a niche you enjoy, but is hard if its a niche that does not turn you on.

I prefer to add articles to my own website with affiliate links or adsense and then get seo traffic.

Articles are a great way to generate traffic to your affiliate offers or your sales page. However, the amount that you make depends on MANY things. How good of writer are you? How good are you at keyword research so that your articles rank well on Google? Are you posting to a quality directory with a high page rank? Is your affiliate offer any good? Is the sales page good at converting prospects into customers? How many affiliate offers are you going to send traffic to? How much time are you willing to devote to article writing? These types of questions go on, so to answer your question, it depends on many factors.

There is a real simle answer to your question, contrary to what many have said here. It will take exactly the number that it takes, not a single article more, and not a single artlcle less.

By the way, do you know how long a piece of string is?

One word of advice. You say you need the money desperately. You could have written two or three articles in the time you wasted posting this question and keeping up with the thread. Then you would be a lot further along in your quest for the $3,000.

Everyone is saying that these numbers are impossible to predict, but sure you cant end your project based on that?

Lets get the numbers down first:

Affiliate commission per sale: $ 25 (So you can choose between more products)
    Number of sales needed: 3000/25 = 120
    Possible convertion rate: 1 %
    Clicks needed to salespage: 12.000
Possible ctr from article: 25 %
    Article views needed: 12.000 x 4 = 48.000
Possible views per article a month: 50
    Articles needed ~ 1000.

This is all just maths and numbers, but you have to adjust your numbers when you get more data about what results your work is resulting in.

And also remember. for each month you do this, you will need less articles as the old ones still bring traffic.

Your job next month should probably be to adjust these numbers to your advantage: Some niches get more views than others, some products convert at 4 %.

Some of your articles will get 50 % CTR, build backlinks to those if you make sales.

If you write those 1000 articles around 10 products, you will find the products that work for you. You will find a few articles that convert well etc.

When it comes to article marketing, you have to think long term and spend half your time building on what you already got, and the other half to build new articles based on knowledge from your data.

The underwear color is iffy because it could start out as 1 color and then turn another color when you realize that your not going to make $3000 in a month.

My question to warriors are how many articles would I need to write this month to make $3000 for the month?

I prefer answers from warriors who are currently doing this, rather than just based on theory, since I've tried theory before and real life has offered me different results.

    Thank you all.
You are asking the wrong questions.

What you are trying to do is get TRAFFIC to an offer which makes you money. If the industry you get that traffic from has no money in it (pink welly boots for amputees) ... then you can write yourself silly without ever seeing any money.

If you focus on FINANCE which is extremely lucrative but also EXTREMELY competitive, you may also write yourself silly because the amount of articles you need to get any decent traffic will be in the thousands.

It all depends on COMPETITION and PAYOUTS in that market. Margins is what counts. Whether you use PPC or SEO is secondary.

Any questions just let me know

I would suggest that you learn how to do article marketing successfully. Take the time to learn how to do keyword research the right way. Figure out how to lead the reader to the resource box and then write a killer resource box.

Once you have learned to do article marketing the right way, you can use it to draw visitors to your Ad Sense website. In a month or two you can sell the site(s) pretty quickly as Ad Sense sites that are consistently making money sell fast ... this is based on personal experience.

As has been mentioned in many of the replies to your question, article marketing can be a brutally difficult 'job' to pursue. It's flat-out a lot of work to come up with creative ways to say the same things that have been written over and over - ad nauseum!

One of the biggest traps most article writers fall in to is to not target low competition/decent traffic keyword phrases in their articles. For example, they may try to go after incredibly competitive phrases such as "Make Money Online" and then wonder why, after two months, they've only had 5 'hits' on their viewer count (and three of those were relatives!)

To make money in this business, you need to target the low hanging fruit. Proper keyword research is probably As Important as the article itself!

A rising micro-niche coupled with the proper keyword phrases will get you to your goal much faster than simply writing, writing, and writing some more until your fingernails fall off!

    Funny,

I just finished reading Sean Mize's free ebook on article marketing and traffic.

It was a great read. He documented his story on the ebook. How he managed to
make $7000 on his third month with 900 articles.

However, today is a different story. Sean Mize is the top author on EzineArticles
with 23k articles in all. He's the top author on several categories I think and,
maybe is now earning six figures monthly with 23k articles.

I'm just finishing my current campaign, have 550 more items to promote and
after this, I'll be writing articles too. My goal would be to write about 1000
articles in 3 months and see if I can reach the same income he's generated.

Anyway, there's no harm in trying....

And by the way, he clearly outlined the method in his ebook.

The things I can remember are:

    1. You must have an email list.
    2. From your article, drive the traffic to your free ebook sign-up form
    3. Monetize your download page.

    That's basically it.

    Best,

I suspect he has even more articles then the 23K that are showing up under his name because I'm willing to bet he has a few pen names and the articles that are submitted under pen names don't count towards the main accounts number.

For example, I have about 1553 articles under my name but my actual total is closer to 2000 articles due to the many pen names I use as part of my article marketing campaigns.

Sean, If I remember correctly also employs a writing team to create is hundreds of articles he submits on a monthly basis.

Yeah Tim, most probably he's employing other writers by now. It will be hard to write that many articles all by himself I think.

Ug, spamming articles won't make you that much. You need to lead to a good landing page with a genuine review, and you should have an opt in form for an email series to convert higher.

3 articles per day for me in a VERY hot niche resulted in about $500 a month. This is with 35-50% CT rates on every article. Making $3,000 requires that you build up over time bud, I don't want you to get mislead into thinking you'll make 3 grand in a month right away.

Exactly 67. If you write any more or less than that you won't be able to achieve $3000.

I just got an email from steve wag that said he made 475 in 6 days from article marketing just to see if he could do it starting from scratch. Another member made 3000 from writing i think 150 clickbank review articles. So hopefully these guys arent lying lol and you can do it.

Seriously, it's so hard to come up with an estimate when there are so many factors that come into play.

The niche, the actual article, the product, the price, the landing page etc, etc.

    You know what I'd do?

I'd say that if my articles convert at 1% and the product gives me $27 commission I'd make a stab in the dark and submit 100 article and see what happens.

What have you got to lose? I wouldn't obsess over stats. if you get nowhere with 100, submit another 100. Well, you were going to anyway!

    Hope that helps a little.
