Hello all,

I am close to launching my OFFLINE business to the Internet World. I realize Facebook and Twitter are great advertising mediums. My question is, since it is MY business, should I just go ahead and use my personal Facebook and twitter accounts to market my business, or should I have seperate accounts for the purpose of business??

You should always have a separate account for your personal life and business life. It doesn't matter if you own the business or not.

If you have a good repuation built around your name, it could help you.

Thanks for the tip! I absolutely agree with you. I guess what I was trying to ask was to use my name for the business account??

That is a valid point, but the other side of that argument is that you have to watch everything you say when you are combining business and pleasure. It's hard for some people to be yourself when there are potential clients monitoring your every word.

Fair point, "You are not your business" springs to mind.

This is actually worth debating. People like knowing you are a human on Twitter and they aren't talking to a robot, so sprinkling your personal touch on a business Twitter account could definitely help you. I mean after all Twitter is really intended to help build relationships isn't it?

i feel its always best for your business to have its own presence on all social networking sites. but you can always make mention of those accounts on your personal account a few times to create a buzz.

You should definitely make a separate page for your business...that's included on their policy guidelines.... Don't worry...its free.... Goodluck.....

If you are popular in your niche it's goodto use your name but if not better create a new one.

  • Definitely agree with E.Brian.Rose. Created a separate account for my website and it has benefited me more than using my personal facebook account.

    Good Luck.
