Is Aweber causing you to lose subscribers?

This is a major problem as far as I am concerned. I opt in to a list that is built with Aweber, am sent to the check your email in a moment page (if it's a double opt in) and check my email and NOTHING. It happened today. Everytime I opt in to a list and they use Aweber, it either takes forever to be sent the confirmation link, or even after confirming, I never see the link to the free product or whatever it is.

I really think this is a problem and causes people who use Aweber to lose money or subscribers. I quit Aweber because of this. I am going to go with Getresponse. Does anyone have this problem?

  • I don't think I am having a problem like that.

    I made a new list for a promotion and tested the subscribe. I got the confirmation email before I got the my email account to check it.
  • It happens, but doesn't happen all the times.
  • I have had it happen many times when signing up to a list that uses Aweber. If the email is not their when I check for it, 99% of the time I just delete it once it does arrive without clicking the confirmation link.

    Would love to see that problem solved.

    • Well I am solving the prob for me. I am not going to keep using them! As far as opting in to a list that uses Aweber, I will just delete it if I don't get what I was opting in for. I really think that this problem can hurt a marketers reputation.

  • Weird... It has never happened to me... The emails arrive very fast and almost never go to the spam folder (this is the reason why self-hosted autoresponders can't beat Aweber).

  • Getresponse is starting to look better and better. I handle my emailing list in-house at the moment but have been thinking about moving it. Still not sure though.

  • I agree getresponse is looking rather enticing they have a lot of options I noticed Aweber does not. I like the adding video to your opt-in form add on I wish Aweber would have this and if they do I am not aware of it.

    It would really increase conversion rates.

    • I have been unhappy with Aweber for some time mostly because of the slowness of their response as has been said it happens enough but this sounds good to me. Perhaps it is time to change

    • Yeah. They really suck. They're so screwed up I can't get my long-term confirmation rate over 86%.

      Yeah. That's the real confirmation rate on my newsletter. 83% to 86%, with little variation outside that range. If they were as bad as you suggest, it would be a LOT lower, doncha think?

      I don't know what's causing the problem you're seeing, but I have never signed up for an Aweber-hosted list and failed to receive either the initial email or the confirmation request.

      Never.

      I've seen one drop into the bulk folder at Yahoo, but that's it. Just the one.

      Generalizing your personal experience into a systemic problem is not a sound way to form good policy.

  • I've not had any problems with Aweber yet.

    I'm sure GetResponse also has their problems. Or do they? I don't know cos i've never used them as Aweber has always been good to me

    Aweber has had its fair share of problems but personally they have been great so far in the time I have been using them. I do not know what I would do without them.
  • Have you considered it may NOT be the autoresponders fault?

    I mention this because at wizardresponderpro.com we do get a few people asking why it takes so long to deliver a confirmation message... and yet others are impressed at how quickly they come through.

    On exploring the why's of it all - it seems that our messages are sent out straight away, and providers like gmail deliver them instantly... whereas some isp's can take up to 30 minutes to allow the message through their systems.

    So we can only confirm it's not a delay from our end - but clients never seem to want to chase up their isp's.....
    And those that do are usually given a runaround and no clear answer!

    Therefore I would suspect that Aweber operate in the same way and send out the message immediately, and the delay will be at the isp who does the final stage of delivery!

    • Randy,This can be particularly problematic with Yahoo, which often has resource problems and other issues which result in very slow delivery of email from bulk sources.

      Gmail has some smaller occasional issues with delays, but nothing like Yahoo's.

  • Yes I get this happening to me, but it seems like its only on a few lists. It doesn't happen all the time.
  • Confirmation emails arrived in an instant for aWeber but lately, I experienced some delays for 10-15 minutes...

    Still thinking on moving to GetResponse.. They've improved tremendously the past month.

      I've tested Aweber with the big providers Hotmail, Gmail & Yahoo and all the emails are delivered/ received in an instant.

      However I have noticed that hotmail can sometimes take ages to receive an email which is a fault of hotmail if i forward an email from another account of mine.

  • How many times have you tested this? With how many e-mails? We've tested Aweber's platform with millions of e-mails for well over 5 years now and have not encountered this "major problem". Did you benchmark this versus Email Aces, Getresponse, Constant Contact, etc. with the same number of e-mails so you could validate the data as being unique enough to be considered a problem? I would love to see the data that made you come to this conclusion.

    Auotresponder threads very seldom have accurate information because most people don't test their opinions or even their short experiences.

    So the answer to your question is "no", we do not have this problem. There are also a myriad of reasons why an e-mail did not make it to someone's inbox that are beyond any autoresponder company's control.
