Spooked about Clickbank

My Clickbank sales have stopped completely and I hear a lot of criticism of
CB. Now I'm spooked about a plan that I've been having to set up a lot of CB product links for a list I'm building.

Is it a black hole, or am I just a little too skittish here?

Curtis

You may be getting shaved, but unless you have proper tracking set up, you won't be able to figure out if you are, sooner or later you'll make a sale again, it's just bad luck really, clickbank has been known to shave like mad to well performing affiliates.

I tend to agree with Alex, have you checked your links?

Doesn't clickbank make the same fee regardless of who refers the sale? I thought they made their money as being the payment processor.

As far as I know, yes. The commission vendors offer affiliates is based on the product price after Clickbank takes their cut. So, whether or not an affiliate is credited with a commission does not affect the amount that Clickbank collects on the sale.

I have also been using Clickbank for the last one year. I might not have much of a success online but as far as my experiece with clickbank is concerned, they are the number one on what they do.

Interesting... I've heard some rumblings about CB recently as well. I know of others who tell me that their CB business is off also. I don't know if it's CB or some external factors. It might be worth the time to check on the other big guys (CJ, Paydotcom.com) and do a comparison in order to find out if it's CB or just market in general.

I doubt it's "still" the economy, but more of order form issues, or the page itself not turning up. I've had potential buyers email me the whole of this month telling how their perfectly valid credit cards are being rejected. Well, time to move to a network that doesn't suck.

You know all this clickbank being bad talk started about a year ago. I'm still very much in between on it. I have about 5 accounts with them, my oldest account is years old, it's affiliate links out everywhere and not cloaked, they haven't been changed or updated for years on end...and they still pour in consistent sales. By consistent I do also mean $0 days...that's consistency. **** happens, seriously. Sales can slow down or stop for so many other reasons and factors it's not even funny.

Either way, there is no such thing as the perfect affiliate network or tracking system. There will always be problems and some that fall through. But it's almost certain that if you're with clickbank or any other major network and your sales have temporarily flat lined...it's almost certainly other factors at work.

Have you looked at the analytics to compare how many hops/sales from previous months to current?

My sales dropped off a week ago, but the hops kept coming in so I know the links work. Then over the weekend sales picked up again.

A very popular blogging ebook I promote (you can probably guess what it is) sold 17 units last month and had 641 hops (sold at 2.7%). This month so far I've had 232 hops and only moved 1 unit. That's a lousy .4%!

I don't think it's the network, however. I'm attributing this to a poor economy and a high unemployment rate. It could also because lots more are people are getting into IM because they've lost their jobs, making the competition much more fierce.
The economy is about the same as it was a month or 2 ago, so I don't understand your logic.

Have you been making sales with this vendor consistantly? I was making sales awhile back 2-4 sales per day for an entire year with one vendorand didn't make a sale for two weeks. Now I am back at 2-4 sales a day again... Not sure if its their tracking system or not. But could be something shady or no one is buying... Hope it get's better for you

Yes, my clickbank sales have dropped over the past 8 weeks. I've since been focusing on promoting CPA offers within the niches I promote to clickbank. Have to say so far so good....and no refunds to worry about

I myself worked my butt off building 30 different blogs to promote CB products. I had built up gradually to where I was averaging one sale per day, to the tune of about $900 per month in commissions.

I recorded these profits in the month of April and May. From May 29 to today June 11. I have not had a single sale in my CB affiliate account. Even though I average a higher amount of hops and order form impressions per day than the previous two months. All of the traffic is still there.

The only thing I am recording even remotely close to a sale is 6 order form submits with no resulting sales.

I contacted Cb and did receive a response from a real person, of course stating that their tracking is working without flaw. I admit, that it appears to be working fine, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how I went from 30 sales per month to so far in the last two weeks, zero sales.

I even went as far as to set up a new affiliate account at CB and change out all of my links on the sites. Samo, samo....same traffic, same hops, no sales.

I haven't had a lot of luck with affiliate marketing, not for any extended period of time anyway. This latest development has been extremely disheartening to say the least.

I just cannot wrap my head around this situation, there is no rhyme or reason to it.

      Just my experience lately,

With all due respect, this is bull****!

You can't guarantee anything about what other people are doing.

I have experienced this same problem, and I am fairly confident that I know exactly what I'm doing when it comes to "promoting products properly". I'm not here whining about it, my business is large enough for me to have developed a system to overcome it. I'm just saying, you should learn a little about something before spouting nonsense.

I'm not gonna say that every time somebody reports a drop in sales, that it can't be explained as normal fluctuation... but I am saying this is not as straight forward as YOU are making out. And it is pathetic of you to label it as such.

I totally agree with Alex here...Clickbank is big enough to sustain itself. I don't believe in click bank stealing commission from affiliate who promote its products. Thousands of internet marketers have benefited a lot from its affiliate programme. I am just a newbie but i have made quite a few sales and I am happy with their programme. I have even tried buying from my own link and it worked like a charm.

The ONLY person I need to prove it to is myself, and I have done. Although there are 11 people in our mastermind of 40 full time marketers, who also have direct experience of this... So much so that I went as far as having a complete script coded to switch my hoplinks when I saw the trend occurring.

I'm not saying commissions are being "stolen". But I can say with certainty that I have direct experience of some questionable tracking.

I'm not talking a few dropped sales from a couple thousand hops.

We're looking at hops and sales into the tens and hundreds of thousands. Real time testing and tracking.

You're condescending tone is wasted on me, take it to somebody who doesn't know any better. You might be able to make some feel bad about the situation by trying to talk down to them How's that working out for ya?

I've steered away from clickbank for the same reasons. One week I'll have an offer converting at 1 in 60 and then by the end of the month I'll be lucky to get 1 in 140. Something is off with that tracking...

I don't like to put too much effort in something that is fishy at best. It might be better to focus on cpa because it is much easier for conversions and at least you know they will scrub your offers if the visitors aren't converting on their end.

I have had a similar problem recently. Traffic is the same or better and order form impressions are greater than previously, but there have been zero sales in the last week for one particular product, where there would have typically been about 4, based on the number of order form impressions and the historical order form impression to sales ratio.

Just chiming in to say it's not just the 1 sale a week people being affected here. I make a decent full time living off of IM, and a good percentage of it comes from clickbank. Days without sales are few and far between, or at least they were before April.

Funny thing is, my rankings and traffic have increased, but my sales have gone down. I'm not sure what the issue is, but it's definitely got me questioning whether or not I should continue with Clickbank or switch my focus to other areas.

I've been with CB for many years and have never had a problem, not to say that they don't exist.

Check all of the links in the chain because you might find one that is out of whack.
