What type of internet marketer are you?

Sounds like this CPA quizzes? But no, this is a real question…
Have you ever asked this to yourself?
I did not ask myself this question until very far along my IM road and maybe, just maybe, asking this earlier could have saved me some disappointments and heartache.
Let me share with you my insights but first some disclaimer.
These are my ideas and opinions, I deeply respect and admire all IM of all kinds in all areas and my attempt to place them in a certain IM type is only my perception of the IM reality.
That being said let’s go….
I think there are 4 big types of successful Internet marketers:
  • The copyright and sales geniuses: those that can sell anything. Can write amazing newsletters, when they launch a product everybody wants it, their squeeze pages text leaves you wanting more. These are what I call the “natural born sellers” and 50 years ago they probably could have been successful business men or women in more traditional sales.
  • The testing fanatics: they keep track of every ad, word, landing page, etc. They track statistics and analyze everything, so they can optimize, test and optimize again.
  • The “I discovered a great idea” type: they got an idea, closed themselves in their garage for 6 months, worked 18 hours a day and launched a product (can be a software or a membership site or a book) which is an overnight success (senuke, scrapebox, and many more)
  • The rest of us: which have some of the qualities of these other 3 types but are a mix of them. We can be great internet marketers we just need to find the way to leverage our skills and find our passion.
So, how do you find your path and know who you are as an internet marketer?
There are thousands of ways of doing internet marketing; you need to find which Is the right one for YOU.
Everybody wants to get rich and see the checks they show us in the squeeze pages when they try to sell their methods, but those methods are not for everybody, THINK! Are they good for you?
Three advices from my personal experience:
  1. Before you take out your wallet to pay for another EBook, course, coaching or software, think!! Are you willing to implement the method sold there, tomorrow and do it every day for the next week or month? Is the method right for you? Do you feel comfortable doing it? Do you like it?
  2. If you are just starting in internet marketing, be patient, the full picture will sink-in one day, and suddenly you will see the big picture and understand which method is the right one for you. You will understand all the ebook and forum posts you’ve read and moved on. I promise. I really do.
  3. Don’t be stubborn, you know what they say “a lot of good money goes after bad money”, know when to quit. I built 30 yes 30 websites using the same “eBook technique” over the course of some months only to find out that I hated the backlinking method I was supposed to use to promote these sites, so don’t do that. You find a method you think you like and it fits your personality try one site, one ppv campaign, one newsletter, and two at the most. If you like it scale it up.
But most important.
Take action!!!

There are no failures in internet marketing just people who quit too soon. (and who don’t try to find what is right for them)
Internet marketing is a wonderful experience.

I think I'm somewhat of an "I discovered a great idea" and "The testing fanatics".. but more of the first one.

I love to think up new venture/ideas and internet startups that could protentially make millions/billions. I'd lock myself in the room and work at my project demo.

I'm less of that now since i've made some money i've become more of an idea man and VC myself since i can pay someone to do technical work, I only need to think of a business idea and model and have someone build it for me.

great for you to have discovered who you are as an IM, it took me a while to find that out.
      I am more a mixture.
I am a blogger by nature, a keyword miner fanatic, a writer, a programmer (not lately though).
I strongly believe in keywords research + content + strong site structure as good SEO for free traffic

and PPV + CPA for paid traffic with mailing list building and adswaps

      as I said a mixture.....

      I love IM
