URL's and SEO for an Affiliate Site

This relates to an earlier question I had. Is there a SEO advantage/disadvantage to having a url such as:

weightloss.myreviewsitename.com

vs.

weightlossreviews.com

?

I'm going to be trying my hand in several niches, and was curious if it would be more beneficial (SEO wise) to just have a generic domain name that I can review all kinds of products on, versus having a niche specific domain name?

    Depends on your goal.

    If you want to build up a massive review site, then you could go with a general name and do the sub-domain like you're showing. That will be great for SEO Purposes.

    If it were me doing a review site, that's the route i would go for sure.
