Do you ever buy traffic

Hi Warriors,

Two questions

I am contemplating buying some traffic while my long term strategy remains article marketing. I am in the health niche. Does anyone have any experience with buying traffic? I am leaving adwords out for the time being.

Whats your favorite link building strategy? I understand that google is not giving weightage for directory listing anymore.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Melvin

  • Yes, there are many places out there you can study about buying traffic. I know Traffic University is a place that talks about doing big buys. If you want to make the most of your time, I would suggest studying up on media buying.

    • Directory submissions still work. maybe not as well as in the past but I know for a fact it works for me.
  • Chiming back in - another thing you can do is use places like PayPerPost.com - to get reviews and nice blog posts about your product.
  • I'm in the business of selling traffic.

I got into the business because I discovered that paid traffic is the fastest way to put a website on a paying basis.

Free traffic is wonderful stuff and especially for marketers with no money to invest but marketers who can, pay for traffic.

Just be sure that the traffic you're paying for is keyword targeted to your site and that, given your sites conversion rate, it is cost effective.
  • Yes.. I buy traffic every day from google, Yahoo and MSN with pay per click..

it's the fastest most targeted traffic you will ever get.. but take some time to educate yourself before jumping in..

    Peace

  • Yeah, I've read alot about that, but from my testing directory submissions still convey link juice. I am continuing to submit to directories and still find it well worth the time. Don't listen to the hype, listen to google, they keep reiterating over and over about shifting the backlink weight towards links on relevant sites. The more a directory leans with regard to relevancy to your subject matter, and their ILQ, I'm betting you will get some benefit.

Much of this hype is coming from google removing a couple lines about directory submission on their how to improve your pr doc. Could simply have been a way for them to more directly shine the spot light on relevancy. Best of luck
  • with the exception of PPC, please forget ANY traffic to buy. I tried this a few times, buying thousands of visitors from services selling so called "targeted" traffic. I did this repeatedly, from different people who "asured" my their traffic is of highest quality, super targeted etc..etc.

This is the lowest quality, never converting traffic, coming from "pay per click" programs or pop-ups/unders. It's bad, bad, bad.
  • There are some banner ad bargains around if you spend some time looking.

  • Any serious marketer will tell you that buying traffic is the first thing to do when starting a new project. Free traffic = takes time / Paid traffic = instantly..
  • If you are new to this stuff, I would strongly suggest learning how to sell effectively before jumping in and buying lots of traffic.

Things like article marketing and building free pages on social sites are a great way to jump in without spending money. Writing articles and learning what does and doesn't convert is a huge learning experience and gets you better prepared when you go to the next level of buying.

  • Most traffic is bought with time, relationships or money. Try doing all three.
  • I rather buy than other methods because time is limited...and time equals money!
  • Buying traffic has its advantages and disadvantages just like free traffic methods, the big advantage that you have with buying traffic such as adwords, yahoo, and msn adcenter is that you control the traffic that comes into your site and that makes a huge difference. you want qualiy/targeted visitors that are pre sold on your offer/product/service via ppc and then they come to your website and hopefully it pulls some type of conversion, you really can't beat paid traffic in my opinion.

The only downfall is that it could cost you lots of money if you do not understand ppc and how it works.

Another reason why ppc advertising is great is because you can test a niche or an idea and see how people respond to it, you can do some clever testing with ppc and get your results in less than 24 hours or maybe a week if you choose instead of waiting months to get your answers with other types of marketing intelligence.
  • I did some searching on google on traffic and I found this site with some good advise and information.
