How my IM Skills Got Me Free Product

So I'm sitting here watching the Canadians play Pittsburgh and I'm enjoying a nice glass of wine. Heck, it's not often that I get to control the TV. My wife usually take the remote and won't let me touch it ...
Anyway, the wine (all 30 bottles) was totally free. I had ordered it from a "make your own wine" place down the street at a cost of about $249 and the guy who owns the place gave it to me for free.
(Side note - in the USA there are not as many of these make your own wine places because alcohol taxes are much smaller. In Canada alcohol tax is huge, and make your own wine is WAY cheaper than the liquor store wine).
Anyway - why did he give me the wine for free?
I was chatting with him over my last 2 batches of wine and talking about online business development strategies. After I bottled my wine I looked at the website he was using and realized it had absolutely horrible on-site SEO.
I met with him at Starbucks the next weekend to walk through the basics of SEO. He had his website redone on WordPress according to my advice and it looks way better already. I showed him the basics of a blog, a main sales page, tittle tag, what keywords to focus on, headlines to use keywords, etc, etc.
It's early days but I bet that within 6 months he'll be ranked #1 for our targeted keywords. It should bring him in a bunch of new customers every year (for no cost).
He rewarded me with some free wine. But the key point is that for anyone thinking of turning this into a real business around marketing services to local businesses, it can be done. There is TON of opportunity out there.
Most business owners don't have a clue about this stuff. If you educate them, you can help them make more money, and you can get paid.
