Graphics Software For Photoshop?

Hi Guys,

I recently heard that there was a software product on the net that you can get for creating your own dvd cd and book cover graphics, in conjunction with photoshop, can anyone shed some light on this?

Cheers....John.

    Hi John,

Are you looking for this online tool?

Online eBook Cover Software - Generate eCover for eBooks and Softwares

It's stand-alone vs working with photoshop. There are ecover action scripts out there too. A quick search should turn up several for ya.

  • I believe you're talking about Cover Action Pro @ http://coveractionpro.com. It is a set of action scripts that work within Photoshop to help you quickly design ecovers for reports, DVD cases, etc. It requires at least Photoshop CS2 to work properly. Please let me know if you're referring to a different product.

    Hey John,

    ecover creator comes to mind...

    ECover Creator

You import your psd or other graphic file into it and you can make cool product images out of it.

    hope that helps.

The human nature always amazes me (together with the lack of careful reading).

Whenever someone asks an ecover-tool question and says "I don't have Photoshop" - everybody jumps in telling to get some PS action scripts.

On the other hand when someone is expressly asking for "something" that would work with Photoshop, we get a result of 2:1.

Since his wording wasn't clear, I suggested both.

John stated "...there was a software product on the net..." which could easily mean that he was looking for an online tool or was searching online.

His statement "in conjunction with photoshop" would, I agree usually mean that he wanted action scripts. That's why I suggested a quick search for that term if he truly did have photoshop.

Your posts are typically helpful Istvan. Sometimes it's not the lack of careful reading, but rather interpretation of the post or wanting to offer multiple options.

I've seen many people with photoshop want an online version of something so they don't have to understand the complexity of photoshop for example.

    Hello,

    Buzz...

    What is a PhotoShop Action?

Actions are, in their most basic form, simply text files. That's it.

Adobe Photoshop allows you to record your designs that you use over and over again.

When you record an Action and save an Action Set, Photoshop takes that text file (a list of all the commands executed in the action), and gives it a .atn file extension.

Then when an Action Set is loaded and an action from the set played, Photoshop reads the text file and re-applies all the commands in that file or action to create what you recorded.

So why is this so handy?

If you do the same thing over and over like create a ecover then you save a lot of time by just playing the action (pre recorded steps) to clomplete a project in minutes reather than hours.

Here's a free ebook that shows you how to make covers in Photoshop (or GIMP).

You can set up these step as actions.

    :-Don

The thing I find that is funny is I post this book about once a month here - whenever someone asks how to make covers in Photoshop, yet no one bothers to try the search button at this forum. Go figure!
