Google Adwords, Yahoo!, Bing are the old standards
Facebook advertising is the latest traffic avenue. I've experimented with it some and it can definitely be a cheaper, viable source, but it has different rules than the big 3
I have found success with banner ad placements through BuySellAds.com
And SEO pays off if you're in a niche that's not hyper-saturated

Have you tried PPV advertising? LeadImpact.com allows you to purchase keywords and url's to deliver traffic to the URL of your choice. This is different from PPC advertising in that we deliver the user directly to your doorstep without them needing to click to your website.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I find that the best paid traffic is facebook, because it is highly directed and in order to grab them in with an ad you know they are interested - I mean no offense to the above user as I am sure his service is great but in my experience PPV has always been uninterested users or bots which is great for your alexa and google rankings but has nearly not ctr/conversion rate on CPC or CPA ads and offers which leaves you bone dry on the profit market.

So the answer really depends on what you need this traffic to do. If it is just a traffic or hits thing go with a PPV it will be cheaper, if it is a revenue driven search use CPC marketing on facebook.

    Cheers,
    Bruce

No offense taken, but what PPV services have you used before?

A couple of ones run by individuals on BHW back in the day - they did nothing for me except get me hits - which I would have liked was there a price difference between that and organic traffic.

Gotchya, yea there are definitely varying degrees of PPV networks out there and unfortunately they all get balled into one when someone has a bad experience.

Each network has their own way of fulfilling traffic which can lead to the quality issues. I can tell you that our network is 100% controlled by us meaning that we don't run our advertisers ads in any other PPV networks. What this allows is for us to have the best quality. The other networks plug in each others advertisers, resulting in a lower quality experience for the advertisers and ultimately for the user. When you buy traffic from LeadImpact they are all our users and will not be fulfilled by other networks.

Sorry to hear about your past experiences.

Is your traffic organic and is it targeted? and if you have multiple levels of organic and targeted traffic do you have rates to reflect that? I would love to work with a PPV company just haven't found one that can fufill my needs.

            Cheers,
            Bruce

Can you clarify by what you mean for organic?

I don't normally associate PPV with organic since it's paid traffic. Yes, it's targeted as you get to choose your own keywords and url's.

              What are your exact needs?

When people discuss organic traffic in a PPV sense it usually refers to the question are you hitting us with bot traffic or real users? Some people like bots as they are a cheaper hit count option, some want the organic hits because they need the CPA conversions

                Cheers,
                Bruce

What kind of traffic are you looking for? If you just want to get eyes to your site, PPV is one way to go, although conversions are notoriously bad (the people they send usually aren't qualified into potential buyers for the info you're displaying). If you want potential buyers, PPC is the most popular approach. In addition to the sites mentioned above, you can check out some of the second-tier PPC sites (7search is the first one that comes to mind). They're cheaper per click, but some have reliability issues, so start off with a small budget!

Banner Ads, Text Ads, Email Drops

The above are all good paid traffic sources

Any good ways to find newsletters? Big ones or just small ones that individuals are building on their sites? Trying to do this now. Outside IM niche.

Google AdWords is the best paid traffic. I've used tons of different sources of paid traffic but very few deliver. Facebook isn't too bad if you are using free CPA offers for games, this worked best in my testings.

Organic traffic will always be #1 and its free!
