The key to some of these is the urgency of dates to be kept which add to the "desperateness".

*Like it or not....the 7 Deadly Sins/Vices.....are the niches from which all niches come from.

1. Lust
2. Gluttony
3. Greed
4. Sloth
5 Wrath
6. Envy

What are your TOP 'desperate niches' suggestions?

You can see how desperate these people will be, and are willing to spend a little cash on products that will help them, even a forum PM, to these people will mostly convert if you put it friendly and recommend it.

So all you have to do mainly is research, see what they want. If you spent say about 30mins reading a niche related forum, and look to see and note down what there problems are, what they need, youll find a winner every time.

Now also once you have a customer and they get back to you saying thanks and you see that they purchased it take note of the buyer, email info, or even msn messenger info, because in a month i bet they would buy a similar product.

This does not mean it's someone on the verge of being on the street and is grasping at the last breaking straw before being evicted. I think maybe the term which should be bantered about is a "hot prospect" (boy is that phrase from the old school) that is ready to make a buying or has made the buying decision.

Meaning, you the seller have the solution/product to their immediate decision; not that your being the straw that broke the camels back. If you are confident, in your product or your information, you should be able to lay your head down on your pillow and not miss a wink of sleep.
Exactly Ken, my initial post title says 'Desperate Buyers' which was meant to start a discussion on 'Hot Prospects', as you mention, people that are ready to buy... they have already been warmed up by some desperation, and are ready to purchase something that will hopefully provide a solution that will help fix their problem. - Like a teenager looking for an acne cure a few weeks before the prom...

I look forward to your ideas!

  • Hi Jared, Great list!.. I can see some of these will fit in nicely with some topics/niches that I already have sites based on. I am going to search out a couple of affiliate products for one or two subjects and test them out to see how they convert. This could prove very lucrative.

    Thanks,

That's a nice looking list you have there.
A few more desperate buyers are people with:

      - headaches
      - backpain
      - toothaches

      This is absolutely true.

I think weight loss is always a pretty desperate niche - especially if someone has an occasion coming up. Like lose weight in time for Christmas (so that you can fit into a sexy party dress), lose weight in time for summer (look great in your bikini) or lose weight in time for a wedding or other occasion.

You want to know what's a good niche,

try making a product in spanish, on the IM niche.

          I'll sell like pancakes.

Too bad no one has stepped up to the plate and took that job.

I've had several websites in desperate niches and I have to say, the keyword phrases that people sometimes use to find them are somewhat depressing, even if they are profitable.

A good (true) example is people who are searching for cluster migraine relief in the middle of the night. Great way to make a sale because of a desperate, motivated buyer but when you consider the people that you are selling to, it makes you want to really choose what you are promoting so that they get what they are looking for.

      Here's a good tip:

      justanswer.com

They have an affiliate program and they have doctors and lawyers, etc readily available to answer questions online. If you can get cheap-as-heck traffic, it can work quite nicely IMO.

This in general is a big insight in my book.

Think about it. A doctor goes to school for a hundred and fifty years, becomes specialized, keeps up to date on the latest cures/information/preventative measures, etc and YOU can easily leverage your IM talents to cash in on their credibility and experience. Nice huh?

Ahh, the power of leverage. If more marketers understood that power, more would be rich.

I mean, as a marketer I can make money almost as if I'm an attorney, doctor, carpenter, surgeon, cop, investigator, etc

Personally, I've made good money in the legal niche and some in the health niche. Someone with a child custody situation, or real estate situation -- well that's VERY emotional. And, people BUY on emotions. Man, that's another insight. Appeal to emotions in your copy and advertising.

Alright, since I'm on a roll here, here's another Louviere Insight:

If you use Google Adwords and run ads towards desperate people (who are staying up late at night worrying about something......) then set your ads to only run at night. Yep, you can do that.

Now, just make sure when you talk about me... you talk well.

      lol

      Eric
PS - there's other avenues out there besides justanswer.com too

      Tim I couldn't agree more.

If you're going to sell to desperate people,
you better damn well know that what you're

I could rant on with the crap I see people

I'm not so sure about women that want their ex's back. Most
of the women that I know do NOT want their former hubbies

I DO however, think that men that want their ex's back might spend
money to find out how to do so.
                    Just my 2 cents.

                    This is a great topic.

People are really desperate when they have been told that they have a life threatening disease. So put together a package that educates and informs about the "10 most important things you need to know or do..." for..

...people who have been diagnosed with cancer (5 most dangerous kinds). heart disease, emphesema, diabetes, hepatitis, tuberculous, etc.

Pretty tough stuff to be dealing with alongside of making a buck in internet marketing.

                    All the best,

This is a great thread and a fantastic example of what people can achieve when they share ideas. I didn't see it before - Thanks Jared for starting it.

BUT if you thinking of the health niches please be careful. As some of you already know my mother is dying of breast cancer. She has spent 13 years fighting this illness but now is under the care of the hospice. So I know first hand how desperate we are to find a cure/solution and would spend money on it. I know lots of others would as well. So if you have experience in a medical field related to cancer (or other illness) or in a holistic field and actually know something that would help, I would be your first customer if you launched this product.

But a product written by somebody that has no experience with Cancer (or other life threatening illnesses) and has no idea whether their claims work or not will just make a bad situation even worse.

Eg - an article/book my sister bought on the internet aimed at advanced breast cancer patients suggested that the patient take regular massages to relax them- thats a good tip in the early stages but if the cancer has spread into the bones, you can actually break the patients bones. If my mum had a back massage,in all probability she would be crippled as her spine would crack. That is an extreme example of how something "innocent and well meaning" but written by somebody who obviously doesnt have the correct experience, can cause problems.

Obviously I am not against people making money and I am not trying to be a "police man" just trying to make a point. People who launch products on life threatening illnesses that have no value at all, are written solely to make money are, in my view, the same as the "DRs" in the wild west who sold their "cure all" tonics!

HOWEVER, a good niche perhaps would be a product that helps the family and friends of those dying from these awful diseases i.e. those of us that spend hours searching the net for stories of how others coped, what organisations helped, perhaps what medical.welfare benefits they could claim (i.e. young parents with small children who cant work as they have cancer or whatever) etc etc. Or perhaps a book aimed at the patient themselves i.e. how to deal with the fact you have been given months to live, etc

I would certainly buy a book like this, hell I would write it but I think my laptop would drown in the process!

                      Take care

                      Rach

ps sorry if I got a little oversensitive!

                    Great thread, Jared.

But is "People who want to get rich quick" really a "VERY desperate buyers niche"? I don't think they're as desperate as the other groups/niches you suggest. (The Desperate Buyers Only techniques may not be as effective with those get-rick-quick folks.)

                    Denice - congratulations!

I don't think it's any coincidence that the list of topics pretty closely mirrors the content of my spam folder. I've had a look at some of the products in the health and weight-loss niches, and I personally wouldn't feel comfortable recommending them to anybody, even if desperate people are willing to buy them.

This is a valid point. Does anyone really intend to help with a solution or just coming up with literature? If you can team-up with an expert or someone who's been there done that and create an original product will be the best not some rehashed "expert" info.

People do understand that, and your list and efforts have been much appreciated by everyone, including myself. But, joking around builds relationships and camaraderie - an important element in any business. However, it is a good thing that you are trying to get us to stay on topic.

I haven't researched this at length but it seems that "how to save money on gas" or something like that may have potential as well. And I noticed on TV tonight that there are A LOT of commercials by companies like Fidelity. Seems as if a lot of people want to cash in on the debt rescue and save your investments from disaster market. Both different, but likely with overlapping customers.

HI Dee - you put your finger on the other (arguably the MOST) important factor in really making money with info products - being able to...

                  1. First, convince your audience that you have a unique solution that THEY BELIEVE will provide the outcome they seek and...

                  2. That you actually deliver material that they will talk about after the fact (word-of-mouth) marketing - while this isn't necessary, it certainly can take your product viral and turn an OK selling product into a WONDERFUL selling product.

When i started with CB i also had a very negative attitude, i assumed that the majority/all of products on CB were cr*p.

I found out this is not the case. You can find high quality products if you look. Not everything is a scam.

And to answer your question: I care. A quality product is in the customer's favor...and it "pays" for the one promoting or selling it.

I think the best method to get rid of your cat is to use the same fullfillment/postal services that quite a few big name gurus seem to use for delivering their continuity magazines.

At least I seem to receive them after the 30 day free trial period has ended, and thus after the first monthly withdrawal from my bank account.

GREAT post... and another one that I've done well with lately... "get your ex back" or "save your relationship" ... if anyone has ever had their heart broken.. they know just how true this is.... talk about "desperate buyers!"

Sure there's a profit to be made off of the desperation and paranoia of others. And I can't condemn anyone who takes advantage of that. Cuz if they don't someone will. But personally, I prefer repeat customers. And if you deal in truly solving people's desperation and paranoina you shouldn't have repeat customers. So I'll leave these easy profits to the rest of you. It is a good list though. Just not my cup of tea.

      • Jared and all,
        Just an update..

I have had several sales now for an affiliate product
related to one of the original list of desperate buyers.
Since I have been a member of that particular group
and found my own "cure", I am now going to develop
my own product and back-end and depending on the
        response, a membership site.

I don't know why I didn't realize before that this
"desperate crowd" that I have been a part of is
such a responsive crowd. I should have since I have
        "been there, done that".

Anyhoooo, If anyone else has had some success with
any of the topics on this thread, I sure would like to
        hear about them.

Denice I would like to more about that, but maybe you do not want to spill your niche. I understand that. I'm doing research on a health issue I went through and that a lot of women have without actually knowing it. They only have the symptoms, which are very unpleasant...

Perhaps they've got some cash stashed away?

The following desperate niche probably have a few bucks to spend:

      ex-bankers, stockbrokers, financiers...

A great list with some good ideas, but I would add a caveat.

Whilst I agree that there is a lot of money to be made in targetting desperate people, it just leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Maybe I'm being simplistic, but I could not bring myself to take money off a man who is about to be kicked out onto the streets, unless I was 100% sure of the product. And frankly most of the stuff i've seen is crap.

I'm not judging others... it's just a personal thing, I like to look myself in the eye in the morning.

I'm sure a lot of us feel like this ... I am more than keen to make money, but always evaluate to myself whether I would be happy telling my friends etc that that is how I make money. I have no doubt there are good products out there that both make money and genuinely help people, its just a matter of finding them!

There is a possibility the term "desperate people" and "desperate buyer" are being some what loosely used in the context of this discussion.

As far as looking in the mirror, waking up and looking at my Old Geezer face , the only reason I look is to make sure I'm still breathing and up on my feet and not flat on my back in a coffin.

The foreclosure market is hot in some areas, and cold in others.

Where I live, they still want full price for their houses. The economy here is pretty stable.

IM products as an alternative to the infestation of MLM's in Malaysia, in Bahasa Melayu (the Malay language), for Malaysians.

Make it cheap and affordable, pull no punches in terms of the hype, heavily use graphics and imagery of wealth and material prosperity.

Or has anyone thought of Data Recovery? Imagine putting your heart and soul into a life's work on your computer and having it crash and burn all of a sudden, losing all your data.

Since I haven't seen any Halloween related topics I thought I would start by doing a bit of Google Trends keyword research and this is what I have found so far:

There are also plenty of Halloween related products that offer affiliate programs... if you search for Halloween in just the ClickBank marketplace, there are 6 products ready for you to promote.

Anyways, here is my list of the Top 13 Halloween related keywords:

1 - party city halloween costumes

      2 - pumpkin carving stencils

3 - funny halloween costume ideas

      4 - pumpkin seed recipe

      5 - the pumpkin karver

      6 - halloween million

      7 - the birds

      8 - poltergeist

9 - american werewolf in london

10 - how to cook pumpkin seeds

      11 - pumpkin seeds

      12 - pumpkin carving templates

      13 - halloween 5

This is just a wakeup call to the 'holiday season' that's fast approaching... let's get creative people!

I can tell you from experience he is right about people and their pets. I have an older cat who got VERY sick overnight last Friday. We had to search long and hard for a vet that was even OPEN on Saturday (we finally found one) and when we did, it cost us a pretty penny. However, the kitty got well and we are very happy. The alternative was that the cat would have died. She was that sick.

If someone even had a "resource book" for pets' illnesses, I would have been glad to buy it. There IS information online, but it's all spread out over multiple websites.

"How To...", "What does..." , etc...on popular discuss forums and then watching stats such as how many reads, and responses they get you can get a pretty good feeling on what the top questions are within your niche. This technique goes well beyond Wordtracker.

An interesting idea, and it seems its very much true! These vices tend to target everyone, as all online buyers are trying to make amends for these things or are pursuing them to better themselves! I guess this in turn makes them hungry for a purchase or a service to pursue these things. Great niches Jared and great concepts! Thank you very much!

Here are two that I don't see mentioned yet.

How to fight or protect yourself (martial arts)

Off shoots of that could be how to protect your personal possesions, or how to protect your home, how to protect your car from being stolen. (this is a huge problem in the city I live in)

    and the second one;

How to quit drugs, or help a family member with their drug problem.

Come to think of it, what about how to help a family member quit drinking?

    AA is huge.
