Paypal business account and clients paying with card without registering with Paypal

Hi,

paypal help is quite confusing and im not sure if this is true.

I have a paypal business account, they say i can accept credit cards payments.

My question is, my customers that land on the paypal payment page after clicking on the buy button can pay me with their credit card without having an account with paypal and a credit card on file ?

Or do they have to register and add their credit card (extra steps which may drive away a % of clients) ?

I have the option to add Worldpay, authorize.net and more to my payment options on the affiliate network i'm using, are those gateways pay with credit card directly ?

Thanks for any answers that may bring light on the concern thing is that on last 100 payments i see 2 moneybookers and 98 paypal but only 2 card payment (for 2 products i sold as affiliate to other merchants so i guess they have a setup which accept credit cards, either with paypal or other payment gateways).

When they click the buy button, there will be 1 spot to log in to Paypal and a 2nd spot on the bottom left side that say something like "Pay with credit card here without a paypal account".

That option may not show up if the buyer is in certain countries though. You will need to read Paypals terms to confirm which countries.

If they do not have or have never opened up a paypal account it goes fairly smoothly. However if in the past they have used the particular cc or email address with a paypal account even if it was years ago and they forgot about it then it can cause a problem.

Even though most of my money comes through paypal I still have a regular merchant account to process cc's so that customers have more options. As long as your business can support the extra expense I would recommend that you have something in addition to paypal. The more choices the less likely you are to lose someone.

Plus, it is NOT there either if the seller is from "certain countries".

Which means, except Greg everybody else in this thread got it wrong... Sorry.

I had a friend in Germany with full Business Acct. and the CC option did not appear - no matter whet he has tried: calling PP's (German) support, setting the prices to different currencies etc. It just didn't work.

So, I doubt it would be there for a seller from Romania...

Yes absolutely Terrybear! With the business account your customer will not be redirected and your customer will not have to have or be required to set up a PayPal account.

Thing is EVcRo if you are making many sales it might be wise to look into setting up a merchant account as PayPal fee's business and other wise are expensive.

With a merchant account from a bank you can pay a small monthly fee and then the bank takes a very very small fee for credit cards and some banks take 0% on debit/current account transactions.

I always advise that you start with a PayPal account to get you up and running and then when you are making good sales you should set up a merchant account via a bank.

That said I would still offer PayPal as a payment method on the site as this will help conversions. But for those buyers that don't have a PayPal account then they can pay (in the same way as the PayPal business account) with their debit and credit cards via your merchant account and you make more money on these sales as there is less %commission!

Run a small analysis project on your site and see how most people are paying - if there is enough people paying via credit card and not by PayPal - I would seriously consider it especially the maths makes sense with the month merchant account fee...

Let us know how you get on.

I was making a purchase using my church's business credit
card and Paypal didn't allow me to make the purchase
without first signing up for an account.

I'm not sure if I should've used another computer
rather than my own, but when I filled in the
credit card info they 'forced' me to open an
account in order to use it.
