.com or .org?

INTERNET MARKETING

I want to buy .com domain but that was not available. So, I purchased same domain name with .org extension. Is there any difference between them? I know .org represents mostly an organization. I am not talking about this. What about Google indexing. Is .com more useful than .org? .com domains index high and quickly or not? or both the domains are same in the view of Google. Can I get help on this?

Hi,

.com's and .org's both get indexed at the same speed and rank about the same in the search engines.

There is no real difference.

No difference from Google's point of view. .org would be fine if .com is not available.

contrary to what some say, there is obviously no way of knowing for sure the weighting google gives to different extensions, always go .com first, but .net and .org are fine. Stay away from .info though.

This is an age old debate my friend.

Honestly, there is no difference what so ever. Personally I prefer .com extensions because most people will think .com automatically when thinking about websites, thats the only real advantage.

I don't know whether they both get indexed as fast and as well, but from a psychological point of view you want to always go for .com if you're looking to create any branding: .com is forged in our minds when it comes to anything related to internet, and it's 10 times easier to remember than .org or .net for 99% of the general public.

If a .com isnt available, i would go to a .com with a - in it. Then i would go to .net

These are the top 3 period.

.org is typically used for organizations where .com is for a commercial website. Depending on what your plan is one may be better suited than the other.

There really is NO difference. As long as you have high quality content on your site, fulfill all of the On-Page SEO techniques and do all the appropriate link building you will not have much to worry about.
