Very weird - what does this mean?

This happened twice today. The first time I thought it was a glitch, but now I'm getting worried...

I just went to a social bookmarking site (mister-wong.com) and it automatically logged me in. The problem is, it logged me in under someone else's account.

I don't recall ever signing up there and the username is one that I don't use. I also seem to have full access to this guy's account.

I'm on Verizon DSL. Has this ever happen to you? What could it be?

As I said, this is the second time it's happen today. The other instance was on a completely different social bookmarking site.

Someone else mentioned they were able to see and have full access to a Google account that they didn't log in to. Strange. Someone smarter than me must have an answer.

Immediately start going to every online banking site to see if you can replicate the problem.

I am afraid this doesn't look good. A shot of penicillin should remedy this problem.

You better transfer some money in so that guy doesn't bounce more checks.

The other night I was doing a backlink check at yahoo for one of my sites (i.e. link:www mydomain com) and discovered I was logged into somebody else's Yahoo account.

I hadn't even tried to log into my own Yahoo account, so I have no idea how that happened.

99% of the time these issues are server side in nature. There's nothing you can do except log out and move away until the site owners resolve it.

In 1% of cases it's because you've got a virus/trojan/malware on your system. As long as your AV is up-to-date there is nothing you need to worry about.

That is strange and it has happened to me about a year ago in a gmail account. I had access to someones account that was actually in my contact list. I didn't realize it until I actually opened up an email from the girls mother about some strange smell she had coming from places I am unable to speak of publicly here at WF.

Anyway, it left me feeling weird and dirty so I immediately logged out and have been in therapy ever since. Thanks Google.

This happens from time to time. It's most likely buggy server code. It can also be a routing error at your DSL hub (read: AT&T) that confuses the server and makes it think you're someone else with a different session ID. Kind of gives you a warm fuzzy feeling about your private info on the net, huh?

Also, the gmail issue - Google had a big problem with this about a year ago. It was supposedly resolved, but apparently, not quite...

I never actually got logged into someone else's account, but sometimes someone else's email address will appear when I go to log in somewhere. I'll click on the box and someone elses email address pops up!... it's super strange!!!!

    Ron,

I can tell you exactly what's going on.

While you were asleep last night I managed to gain access into your PC using my trusty local hacker and uploaded a bunch of mini-macros.

So this is nothing, the fun is just starting to begin.........when you go to Cooking.com your toaster oven is going to turn on by itself. When you go and check your stock portfolio is doing the dow jones and the wilshire 5000 indices are going to be down 90%, and when you go Google.com it's going to have a picture of you integrated in the letter "G"........man, I can't wait until you log into tomorrow morning!

Ron - that's happened to my twice and both times it was after I was working with Traffic Geyser profiles. This weekend I ended up logged into a German Facebook account - took me forever to find the logout button!

The only thing close that happened to me was a few years ago when I tried an online backup site. Somehow I was able to see other people's backups. That scared me enough not to use the service after the trial period.

It happened with either facebook or twitter (can't remember which) a few months back too. Folks on verizon in the us (cell provider) got logged into the wrong accounts... pc logins were fine.

Be kind and avoid exploring - you may not like what you find. lol

I find it scary. Glitch or no glitch. There are also a lot of major cyber-war games going on internationally and it's getting hard to tell when you've been hacked, tracked, harvested, shot a virus, or just plain glitched. I've had a few real spooky things happen in the last year that suggest that we're just being harvested and sold like tomatoes. FB new "share" policy is just thrilling enough without the rest of it. Watch your data!
