People Who Prey On Newbies

Since joining the WF and WarRoom in particular i have learned a great deal and received some good advice. After being here for a while you quickly identify people who know what they are talking about and people who don't.

Generally the people talking about the thousands they are making per day are the ones who know squat.
I stumbled upon a thread earlier with one such a person, who was making various outrages claims and after being challenged by senior warriors to backup his claims he quickly disappeared.

After some digging i discovered that this person has launched 3 WSO's in the past 4 months and when the going gets tough or people who purchased start asking questions he disappears from the scene.

Now most warriors are experienced enough to spot a fraud but for people just starting out in IM it's not that easy. IM is difficult enough for most people without them being led astray by unscrupulous marketers out for a quick buck.

The WF is an excellent place to learn new methods, share your ideas and meet some awesome people, some of whom are top marketers.
IMO the WF is a community built on trust and there is no place for these fly by nights just out to profit from it's members.

Tip- Before you buy anything do a search, most of the time you can make an informed decision based on what other warriors had to say.

    No. Do not based on what others have told you via online. The Internet is still and is always a wild wild world. Besides, an open forum always inherits lots of weaknesses.

    Give a call or meet up somebody is a better way.

      Yeah I find a lot of supposed unbiased reviews by other members often are affiliates pitching the product for the referral money.

          IMHO, i don't see any need for any guide to be successful in Internet Marketing.
          It's a simple concept. You create a site of value. You get traffic. You bring in visitors interested in your content/niche, and you try to sell them related products via your articles/content.

          I don't understand the need for a thousand articles for this simple concept. I think most of the people here would benefit more by taking programming/web design classses that would enable them to become independent in this business without any program.

    Its called due diligence, Theo and you're right. However, (as Hardi points out), sometimes what you read online can be rather biased. Although, paying attention to those who are endorsing another in a positive light is also part of the due diligence process.

    Its really pretty much like everything else in our adult lives; look both ways before crossing the street.

    What the WSO section needs is some kind of confirmation system in place, if someone claims to be earning $10,000+ per month then they would have no problem with paying that to this forum each month over a course of three months to be repaid back to them...so that the admins can verify that they are on the level and state that they are making such an amount of money (though nothing is ever that simple)

    Somehow I don't think this will happen though, the much better solution is obviously to heavily photoshop ridiculous claims to a photocopied sheet of someone elses earnings :p

    While what you say is undoubtedly true most people don't have tht kind of mind to find a niche, mine are generally computer games but it is not really a buying niche paradoxically, I just cannot get any traction.

    With my camcorders mini site I don't have a clue about them...

    I have a couple of ideas floating around in my noggin but it is about getting those ideas onto paper.

    My signature says it all, anyone can dream and fewer ever take action however unfocused and far fewer again ever take action on their dreams.

    What people would much rather do is take action on someone elses dreams :p

      "If someone claims to make $xx,xxx+ per month, then what the heck he or she is giving away this information in the first place?"


      I'll yell "RUN!" whenever I see outrageous claim.

      Ok, let's be nice to those WSO sellers that are selling opportunities.

      If someone really makes this amount, and he or she genuinely feel compelled to share this information by selling it...

      Here are 2 things that they could do, in my opinion:

      * Tone down the sales process. That includes taking out the testimonials.
      * Tone down the product without claiming anything.

        If you tone it down, you have to balance it out in someother way, either with an amazing guarantee or USP of some sort.

    You can weigh for yourself what's fraud and what's reliable through a lot of sources. Search through and you'll see answers, ask in "reliable" forums like this then you'll get the answers that you need but still, it's how you interpret things according to what these people say. It all starts in oneself so it's really one big challenge not only for newbies.

    One last thing would be experience - without learning from your mistakes, you wouldn't know if you're using the tools that you need or you're just wasting a lot of money.

      To be fair, scam artists do serve a useful function. We were all newbies once and got sucked into every super-hyped, no fail, plan that came along. Are there an WF members who have not purchased a worthless product? Be honest, now.

      The marketplace itself has a way of sorting out the wheat from the chaff, just as it does in the non-internet world. And this forum actually helps with this process. Buying worthless IM products when you first start out is a part of the IM learning process. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Does anyone like it? No. But we have all done it and learned from the experience.

    Ive said this beore and I'll say it again. A lot of this boils down to common sense. Its not only online where you can be preyed upon. Sales letters are designed to tug your emotions and get you to rush to that pay button like some sort of a lunatic without wasting a second to stop and think about it. As soon as you realise that then you will be a lot better off. There are numerous WSO's a couple I was interested in that have went to hell with people struggling to get refunds of $100's because the OP did a runner. Not everybody is bad but a bit of common sense goes a long way. If somebody says they earn $10,000 a month there really is no way to disprove that unless you sit with them and watch them do again. At the end of the day its up to you alone whether you believe them or not.

    For the record its not only newbies that get scammed or are preyed upon.
