Need help with using images in wordpress

I want to place various images into my wordpress blog and set them up like the gallery feature that is already set up. What i want to do though is to link each image to an external URL (which the wordpress gallery feature does not let me do). Is there a plugin that will give me the layout that I want but also let me link each image to my URL on another website. If not does anybody know if it is achievable.

  • Hey Kim - did you use the 'add an image' tool in Wordpress post editor or a plugin?

    Not quite sure what you mean when you say 'wordpress gallery feature'.

    • i used the add an image tool to upload all my images at once. Once it is done you get an option to show all your images in rows as a gallery which is what i want.


  • Kim just highlight the image and press the link icon like the one on this site when you created your post. It will ask you the link and simply add the url you desire.

  • It would appear you can't use external links with the built-in WP Gallery shortcode: Gallery Shortcode WordPress Codex

    You could upload all images using Wp Dashboard -> Media -> Add new

    Then use the 'add image' button in the post editor, click on 'media library' instead of from computer or url.

    Then click on 'show' and you will get the usual image form where you can set the url for that image and click on 'insert into post'.

    It's long winded but not sure there's any other way - would be good to know if there's a plugin for this.
