Any legal issues like spam to be considered here?

Are there any good/safe companies from where we can safely

Building a list is so so tough.

    Hi,

What you got to ask yourself is this, "If someone complains that you are spamming them, can you prove they opted in to receive your email?"

Complaints that you are spamming will likely get your IP address blocked by the filters and you may end up getting your email addresses and domain name on blacklists which could hinder future promotions.

Plus people could go further and accuse you of spamming to the authorities. Even though emailing to a rented list isn't technically against the Canspam act you might still have to prove that the recipients opted in to your email.

And the fine in the US for breaching the Canspam act is $16k per email.

More info on the Canspam act can be found here - The CAN-SPAM Act: A Compliance Guide for Business

These are the things to consider when starting an email campaign to people who are unknown to you.

As you say, "Building a list is tough". But then the rewards for building a relationship with a targeted, responsive email list will be worth it in the end.

    Cheers

Building a list is tough but it is the only way to really make $$ online. I would stay away from renting lists and just place solo ads in reated ezine's to your niche pointing back to your offer where you offer something for free that you could sell.

Try this aswell to build a list. Once you get to 100 start swapping

      WRONG!

I wish people wouldn't keep repeating stuff like this as it's just plain wrong.

OP - You're highly unlikely to find anyone who cares about you that will recommend you buy lists. It's a great way to waste your money and get yourself (and your business) in trouble.

Ignorance is not an excuse when get a knock on your door from the authorities investigation spam complaints.

If you buy lists of peoples emails make sure you're able to prove they opted in.

I would avoid this at all costs.

It's hard enough building your own list without getting spam complaints (some people just forget they opted in even when you're in full control of the process and offering great value) and every level of distance you put between you and the people on the list - the more likely to have trouble you are.

Not least is the fact that you start with a list of people who don't know who you are and will most will unsub when you send your first message, others will report you for spam, and what's left may still be useless.

Just build your own list. It will save you lots of legal problems. Renting or buying a list is asking for trouble and not only that, you really don't know if that list is targeted to your market.

If you're buying an email drop/solo ad to someone else's list, it's possible to make some good money.

The good ones are usually really expensive though.

I agree with scrofford, building your own list is better. Renting a list wont give you the results you're expecting.
