Inserting a file download link in WordPress - page not found?!

Hey all,

I've never seen this before, but wondered if you could help.

I'm trying to insert a URL into a page in Wordpress, which is a zip file for people to download.

Problem is, everytime I test the link, it takes me to a 404 page not found error.

I've checked the link location, which is correct. I can't work out what's going on?

Any idea?

Cheers,

Nick

If it is a correct link to a .zip file - it shouldn't take your anywhere, it should just start the download.

My suspicion is the link/url is not right.

What is in the address bar when you are on the 404 page?
Often it can be be such a simple thing like not starting the URL with http:// - users educated by Microsoft products tend to think URLs start with www, which is wrong in HTML context.

Thanks Istvan, I found the problem - I was using a # symbol in the folder on my site, which must conflict with Wordpress or something.
