just came across this site The Light Crisp SEO Friendly URL Shortening Service

Its a very cool SEO friendly URL shortening service. It also gives you stats on your links and its free!!

Here is more info from their site:

      well... do what i do.. only use it when you feel that you need to track stats on a particular link like a blog post

        Another good one is by my buddy Rob O'Callaghan:

        a.gd

        You can edit your URL too, for something like a.gd/twit

        And your account will show you the clickthroughs on your URL.

          Just be aware that these services come and go rather quickly.

          I remember setting up a free link shortening service and people complained to my hosting provider claiming that I was spamming them because they received unsolicited emails containing shortened links that contained my domain name.

          I got kicked from Hostgator, Rackforce, SynergyBox, iPowerweb and Agilityhoster for running this service.

          I also contacted the hosting provider that TinyUrl.com uses and they were very reluctlant to take on another link shortening service due to the massive amount of complaints they receive from people regarding TinyUrl.com.

          Setting up a link shortening service is easy, keeping it running by keeping your hosting provider happy is the hart part.
