Is it just me when you mention to others that your going for a career in Internet Marketing they are in the mystery?

Is the market over saturated? How many people start an adwords campaign, affiliate marketing etc per day?

    This type of question/comment gets brought up a lot. In my old life, I was a pricing analyst for a fortune 500 company. And trust me, I got just as many blank stares from people in the non-business world. People in the business world can at least ask questions to find out what you do (not that most care).

    I think saying "Internet Marketing" is kind of being vague anyways. I'm not surprised you get blank stares.

      "internet" marketing is just like "direct mail" marketing, only it's online instead of through the snail mail. Like TMG said it's just a medium of marketing your stuff.

      It sounds like you need to pull together a business plan and figure out what your business is going to be about, since internet marketing isn't enough.

      Instead you should say "I sell information products using the internet" (if that's your business model)

    This is a new and emerging market. I go to many business mixers and Chamber events, I am only one of a hand full of Internet Marketers. I am proud of my profession and most of my peers are jealous of my freedom and success.

    yeah the scammers seem to have put water on those who are genuine, but more forums like this make people believe that IM is alive and well and working and here to stay not gone tomorrow. I am a newbie trying to learn everything I can but it takes time.
