Embed video in WSO thread

Hey,

Having a bit of difficulty in embeding a YouTube video into a WSO thread.

We can do it on normal posts by simply typing the youtube url.

However when it comes to the WSO thread only the YouTube link appears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

    Except this is a new restriction I don't think there's a difference
between the WSO section and other sections.

Are you sure you don't have some extraneous code that is
    interfering with the link?

Turn on 'Automatically embed media' when posting/editing your thread.

I thought there was a problem or some sort of special config for the WSO forum, as well until I put 2 and 2 together.

Allen or Mod Correct me if I'm wrong... but just like in the Main forum, you will not see the embedded video until your post is live. If you preview your post, you will only see a link.

  • Hey guys thanks for your replies,

The 'Automatically Embed Media' Tick Box has been ticked.

As you can see we're not having any problems embeding the video in the normal discussion forum.

The problem comes when we embed it into the WSO thread.

    Thanks,

    • Thanks for your post,

When we preview a post in the main forum we can see the video as it appears once the post has been submitted - as above.

This is not the case with the WSO thread.

      What do you think?

      Thanks,

OK, then well I'm not exactly sure then. I haven't fully tested the theory.

Instead of spending more time trying to figure out why I wasn't seeing the video in the preview WSO post, I just substituted the placement with a graphic that linked to a custom page where I embedded the video myself; (more control over size and other options that way, anyway).

        You might wanna try that?

Anyway... sorry I couldn't help more

Try "reposting" the video links (erase your old video links, then replace them). I was having that difficulty (I edited a thread once or twice, and then the links became 'normal'). So just erase the links, then cut & paste (from your browser, since otherwise your clipboard still has the 'hidden' html code on it), and then it should work.

That's right! I remember having that same problem where my videos
disappeared after editing the post. Great tip.

      • Thanks for your replies,

So what your saying is copying and pasting the following URL:-
        HTML Code:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fp-8qB9sMI&feature=hp_SLN
And then deleting it and keep on pasting it back into the thread?

        Thanks,

  • Yeeees,

    Thanks to everyone that posted.

We finally embedded the video successfully.

How we actually got it working......We inserted the URL, previewed the thread and it still showed the URL in a text format and then submitted the thread....when it was accepted we viewed the page and the videos were up!!.

    Thanks a'lot,
