How Many Article Directories Do You Submit To?

Hi guys!

I know the obvious submissions:
ezine
goarticles
buzzle

But are there other good ones? I can pull up a list of 50, but that seems kind of crazy!

I don't have money for an article submission service, so I have to do them all myself, one by one...how many should I do?

Which ones are the best?

Should I do them in a certain order because of how picky each one is about it being elsewhere on the internet? I have been told exine first always, because if they find your article in other places while they are reviewing it, they will decline your article.

Any help on this??

Thanks!
Jennifer

    Jennifer,

If you search the forum you'll find many threads on this topic. I recommend you only submit to a handful of directories and then move on to blogs and sites in your topic area. Don't waste time submitting to every directory.

I would say submit your articles to the top 10 manually and submit to all others using submission software and article submission services

      Depends on your goal.

      I use two approaches.

One is to submit a set of articles with purpose of building backlinks to a specific site or page I am trying to improve the rank on...for those I submit to quite a few places including article directories and social network bookmarking sites

Other articles I write more to bring traffic - those I submit to only a couple of article directories and usually make them unique.

I think that 80/20 Principle is at work here. The top handful (5/7) article sites get the most traffic and you'll get the best response from those. You can submit to the others but concentrate on the main handful.

I submit my article to EzineArticle first and then to the others.
      Good luck.

Totally Agree with you on this! Here is a little secret: First submit to ezine articles. Then to only a handful more. (if google sees the same content all over other article sites it WILL backfire!) I've had great success with articlebase.com
amazines.com (these guys approve quick, and show on google fast!) and
        ideamarketers.com
        That's it! I only submit to 4.
There is a few where I submit articles exclusively for their site.

Back to the secret, after you submit to article directories, I normally wait a day, then I post the article on my blog.

        Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for all of your helpful hints! I feel so much better now...

I wrote and submitted 3 articles to ezine yesterday, and hopefully, once they're approved, I'll be able to post on a few others!

While I love the idea of making sales, right now, it's all about building my list. I believe that I am promoting a great affiliate product that I not only believe in, but use myself.

I've got about 70 emails already set to deliver over more than a year's time, and I think that at least 60 of those emails offer good free content to my subscribers.

          Wish me luck!

I guess the answers depends on the purpose of the articles? Traffic, syndication, backlinks?

Do you have your own blogs / sites?

Not sure I see the value to submitting to 50+ directories unless you're trying to gain backlinks. Additionally not sure why you'd want to build another entities e-real estate portfolio with your content anyhow. Why not just put your content on YOUR sites and rank it? Then find cool ways to monetize those site[s].

For Link Building Purposes I spin my articles and submit them to between 300-600 directories depending on the subject. I manually submit to some of the bigger ones:

ArticlesBase is the #2 sales generator for me.

I use 8 or 10 in total (There are MANY days when 1 or more of the directories I use is down).

ArticleDashboard I gave up on long ago - many users cannot even login anymore and there is no response from them when you contact them.

Personally, I've always just stuck to Ezine. But that's a personal preference. I typically never mess around with other directories and am very happy with the success I've seen over the years with Ezine alone. But that being said, I might be wrong on that one

        I only use three directories.

        Ezinearticles, goarticles, articlebase.

        1. First, submit to Ezine and get article approved.
        2. Submit to GO and AB afterwards.
        3. Pick eventually one or two more for backlinking.
        ( articledashboard or articlealley )

I change titel, summary and first three lines of the articles, before submitting the same article to different directories.

It depends what you are submitting the articles for.

If you want to rank your articles on first page of google, my take is to submit
    to ezine, squidoo and hubpages.

Now here's what the gurus don't want you to know, build backlinks to these
articles, i.e ezine, squidoo and hubpages and not build more backlinks to your own site.

The reason is that google likes backlinks with backlinks. If the backlinks is weak, i.e without any backlinks to it, it's much harder to get to first page of google.

But if your backlinks have tons of backlinks to it, this article which is linking back to your own website is considered a high quality link and lots of link juice by Google.

I submit articles to my own sites first and then alter them for article submission - why should you give other sites first stab at your fresh content when it's your site you are promoting and google favours fresh content?

I then hand submit to a handful of directories after a few days. Ezine Articles and Articles Base included. I also use the submission service at isnare which is very cheap

You do not need to submit to ezine articles first, just make sure that your name is in the author bio because EZA usually take longer than some of the other directories and if for instance auto bloggers have already republished your articles on their blogs from Articles base they don't republish under your name, usually admin.

Although the top directories get more traffic for me it is more desirable to get my articles and links republished across the internet than hoping to get clickthroughs from one directory and I've never believed in putting all my eggs in one basket in case they get smashed.

Another thing to consider is which directories rank the highest for your keywords. Sometimes it's surprising!

    Hi Jennifer,
Nice to see you again in this Forum.
I use an article submitter that allows me to choose from about 130 article directories. Lots of them are very popular and lots of my articles are on Google 1st page for quite competitive keywords.

Yes Ezinearticles can spot spun articles very easily...
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2121843].message }}
  • Hi Jennifer
There are hell lot of article directories available all over the web but they all are not same good. You can apply the 80:20 rule here as well. 20% of the available directories provide 80% of your visitors. And if you are looking for back links, just be careful because some of the directories put 'nofollow' in the links you provide in the resource box.
You can use these directories if you want to make good out of your campaign -
    1. Ezine
    2. Buzzle
    3. GoArticles
    4. ArticleDashBoard
    5. ArticleKingPro

These are really good and you can get a good traffic through these sites. Directories which put 'nofollow' are -
    1. ArticleBase
    2. ArticleSnatch
    3. a1articles

One article per day per directory does really good. Use different anchor text everytime. It helps you from being spammer.

I hope this information helps you with what you are looking for.

so, are these articles different from the actual articles on your blogs? So basically I need to come up with even more content on an already niche topic?

      OR

Can you just take the stuff you wrote on your blog and throw it up on the article sites?

    Hi Jennifer,

    I submit to 4:

    ezinearticles
    articledashboard
    goarticles
    amazines

Amazines carries the lowest page rank but gets the most page views followed by ezinearticles. Articledashboard comes in 3rd with goarticles tailing. I spread out my articles fairly evenly between the publishers.

I submit manually. If submitting in mass maybe you can use a submitter but for 3-5 a day you can do it manually.

As for the best Ezinearticles carries the highest page rank but as I mentioned my amazines articles have the highest views. That's what I'm looking for.

    Hope that this helps,

If you want views directly from the directories...

    1. EzineArticles (Obviously)
    2. ArticlesBase (Has an Alexa Rating that continues to grow)
    3. Buzzle (Be prepared to write unique content or submit your article there first.
    4. Article Alley can actually be decent

Remember though, your key is to write seo articles. They might not rank well in Google all of the time but they'll get a lot of views and clicks when people search for them in the directory.

I agree with most of what is being said here. The simple answer (as stated by others), is that it really DOES depend on what you are trying to achieve.

Another process is to use ONE article submission and create a link wheel (you can google that for a diagram). THEN you take all the great info here, put it all together, and create a WSO! lol
