Newbie Question About Traffic

I am a member of the MarketingWithAlex.com 3.0 coaching program and I am involved in a Traffic Generating competition with the other students.

The winner of the competition wins a total revamp of their blog and a unique Profit Pulling Platform.

Honestly, I am looking to win and I would love to hear what you all do to drive traffic to your websites and blogs.

I greatly appreciate your feedback for helping with the competition.

- Rick

One of the first and easiest things you can do to drive traffic is to make sure when you post a link somewhere (such as in a sig file) that it actually works and directs the visitor to your site.

Well to tell you the truth, there is no such thing as traffic generation or traffic building. Not even Google can generate traffic, it is merely a inherit feature of the internet.

So with that being said, all you have to do is find ways to redirect traffic to your sites. That is the job of a marketer.

Videos, articles, forums are the best places to start.

Are you familiar with all of that?

Articles are brilliant but you have to do LOADS of them. If you are just starting out adswaps are great but be choosy about what you promote to your list.

If you have money to spend Pay per click is fastest but if you don't know what you are doing google will strip the shirt off your back!

      Hello Rbyrd1157

Generating traffic is indeed a very difficult, particularly for people who are totally new in the industry. Anyway, here are couple of ways you can consider using to drive traffic to your website:

      1. Guest Blogging - This might take some time, but it is worth giving time. If you become a guest blogger on popular websites, then you & your website would get amazing exposure in the marketplace.

      2. Article Marketing - When I say, article marketing, I am not talking about any yada yada techniques like writing articles after articles; you can automate your stuff. And, more advanced strategies would be like converting your articles into PDFs, Videos, Exe, Podcast and then submitting them to relevant directories.

      3. Social Media Marketing - Create a Facebook Fanpage or an interesting Twitter account then direct your traffic on these sites. There is a huge pool of people waiting to follow and get followed.

      4. Facebook Ads - Facebook ads seem to be pretty hot these days. It is right after Google AdWords in PPC marketing. So, you can consider using if you have some money.

You can interlink your different streams of generating traffic and make it bigger. It grows over a period of time.

Hope this would be of help.

      Regards,
      MK

      Andy:

Fun? You call that huge list fun? I saw it and thought oh crap, I have a lot of work to do. I think I will start with a few and then slowly introduce other techniques as I go along. I don't wan to get burned out.

Anyway, thanks for the list. Some of them I have never heard of so I wil have to research them some.

My question to you is, do you use all these techniques?

      Thanks,

      Rick

Wow! Thank you all for the great information.

I have a couple of other questions.

First, how would you recommend I do ad swaps when my current list is only 7 subscribers?

Second, for those that recommended the tell-a-friend script- where would I use the script?

    Thanks,

The most effective means of getting large amounts of quality traffic is and always has been via email marketing. But the biggest hurdle before you when considering email marketing is having a large enough list of quality subscribers.

To start out, you can build some Optin pages for your products, set them up on your site, post articles about your product on some of the reputed directories such as ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com to get some backlinks to your site as well as visitors.

The common perception of article marketing is that it takes a while to get you the traffic you want. It all depends on the quality of your articles and not on the number you submit and to how many sites. If you write a very well thought out, captivating article and so much as submit it to just one directory, say ezinearticles.com, the impact you would have on a reader would be massive. Readers love a good read, plain and simple. And if the contents of your article are well worth it, catchy, offer free advice and maybe links to very very useful paid products online, buying which would genuinely help your readers, then yes, even one article of that nature can get you massive volumes of traffic.

Paying your way to blasting emails to Safe Lists and Bulk Lists will almost always lead to disappointment for a number of reasons. 1) Such lists are rarely cleaned (hard bouncing invalid email addresses removed), meaning a very low CTR for you. and 2) Bulk lists are hardly targeted, so mass mailing your site or product to millions of people who probably don't have a clue to what you're talking about, nor need anything like you're offering, will not help your cause.

I would suggest you start out by simply developing a presence on forums related to your niche market. For example, if you've written a Dog Training eBook and want to get traffic to your website so you can sell it, search online for forums of blogs that talk about dogs or dog training, comment on posts with a link to your site, and get some targeted visitors this way.

I would personally recommend using the NowRelevant.com Search Engine or Blog-Search.com to look for blogs and forums, as well as articles in your niche.

Also, if you have a small amount of money to invest in Pay-per-Click Advertising, setup a well-optimized PPC Campaign on NowRelevant or Yahoo!, choose a very small number of keywords that are relevant to your site or products, and launch some Text Ads (start with only 2 and compare performance over time).

    --
There are many ways of driving traffic to your site. But contrary to popular opinion, quality traffic always needs hard work.

    Hope that helps~

SEO mostly. I use linkvana to build a huge list of backlinks for my keywords. Also ezinearticles and youtube for some traffic too

Obviously there is no shortcut traffic but what I find is doing 30 minutes a day of "traffic generating activities" help, so the effort accumulates over time.

(Pretty simple habit I know but it works. I learned it from Jimmy D Brown from his Six Figures Formula course)

Creating a social presence is very helpful in getting targeted traffic to your site.

I suggest you start with creating a facebook page about your site or product, broadcast message it to your friends and post it on your wall. If you get replies to your posts, your friends' friends will begin to see this correspondence on their home profiles. The traffic may come slowly, but if you choose the right friends from Internet marketing groups on facebook, and other groups related to your products, you could soon see a very good increase in good traffic.

Make sure you capture email addresses along the way to maintain communication. Setup an Optin List and have a Squeeze page on your site capture this information from interested prospects who visit your site. Regularly communicate with your Optin List afterwards to gain more interest and potential customers.

            Hope that helps~

      What's PPV?
Forum signature really can bring traffic to the site. What about blog commenting? Does it have to be dofollow? or it is okay on nofollow? What do you think?

PPV stands for Pay-Per-View. It is referred to as pop-up or adware traffic. Alex will be teaching you about this in his course. I guess he hasn't gotten there yet. It is as cheap as $0.015 per view, not per click. It's installed on a lot of people's computer (they must agree to it) when they download a free program, usually a game. Then whenever they search for something on a search engine or go to a specific website that an advertiser has targeted by keyword or URL, your ad shows up in a new window. It's pretty good when you know what you are doing.

The other methods that you mentioned do work well but they take a lot of time and I don't know if you can win a contest with those methods but it might be worth a try. They don't cost anything so why not...
