Trying to sell a site. Where is the best spot to sell websites?

I have a site for sale and I'm wondering where the best spot is to sell sites. I want to sell it cheap and quick as I have no time for it, but I'm sure someone else could use it. I've used flippa, but just haven't had much luck getting noticed there. I liked when it was over at sitepoint. Is there a better place to sell it?

  • Actually, I guess I'm trying to sell a bunch of sites quickly - so a good cheap place to advertise them would be nice. Any ideas?
  • Try the classifieds section here on the WF

    • Heres the best way to do it in my opinion and here are the top sites i use.

      BusinessesForSale.com
      Daltons Business
      Sunbelt Network
      BizBuySell.com
      flippa.com
      ebay.com
      Business-sale.com
      marketplace.sitepoint.com

When i want to sell a site or a business i dont just post my listing on one site.

      I use numerous ones.

This way i can get a better bidding and if the site isnt selling on one site it will have a better chance of selling on another.

Its better than sitting around for one to sell.

  • Digital point is the walmart of online marketplaces. Everyone expects everything to be super cheap there and most things being offered are very cheap. However you usually get what you pay for. I have had great success with flippa myself. The WF is a possibility as is ebay.

    • I'm not a huge site flipper, I usually just dabble when I need a mental break from writing. I have had two experiences with Digital Point when it comes to selling sites.

First site was a very nice niche blog and I listed it in DP for $100. I was offered $20. I declined and soon after I sold the site through a private contact for $150.

Second site was a niche autoblog, I had a go at playing with autoblogs, and listed the site at DP for $50 - I figure that covers the domain and a few hours finding affiliate programs and making it look pretty. Not a nibble so I listed it on Flippa for $1 starting bid, no reserve and it sold for $240.

Based on my sample size of two, DP isn't somewhere I'd bother with when it comes to selling sites. I haven't tried eBay but might do so when I next have a break in writing, and I'll have to have a go at WF too.
  • Thanks for all of the info everyone. I'll have to look over all of this.

I have tried Flippa multiple times. From my understanding that is Sitepoint? When it was Sitepoint I had a lot of luck selling sites, but I don't seem to get a lot of views or interest on Flippa for compareable sites. I have everything from PR4 sites to good domain names that I would like to move. I have spent about $200 in listing fees in the last year at flippa without much luck lol. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Have any of you used the tweet feature over there? Does that actually work?

    Thanks!

  • I tried eBay not a long time ago and had no traffic coming in to my landing page. I wouldn't bother with them in my opinion.

WF or flippa would be my first choices.
  • Ok added the site in the warrior marketplace. We'll see how this goes! Thanks for all of the input.
