How To Add A 'BUYNOW' Button To Your Sales Page

Here is a step-by-step explanation on how to add a Paypal ‘Buy Now’ Button to your sales page, so YOU get paid. It’s not as difficult as you might think. In fact, it’s pretty easy (when you know how). Oh, and it’s FREE!

1.
Log in to your Paypal account and click on ‘Merchant Services’.

2. Now click on – ‘Buy Now Buttons’ and you will be taken to the next page, which shows - ‘Create your button now’. Click on that.

3. Okay, we’re into Step 1 proper - You’ll see a drop-down with ‘Buy Now’ at the top, which is exactly what we need, so let’s just leave it at that.

Below that there is a box for Item Name, in which you can put the name of the
item you’re selling (for future reference) and beside that a box for Item ID

(You can assign an Item ID as a unique identifier to make tracking easier).

Beneath that is the price box, which is where you put the price you want your customers to pay for your product. There is also a dropdown here for the currency you want your customers to pay in.

For example: If you want your customers to pay in US Dollars you need to go to the ‘Customize Button’ box just below and click on ‘Customize text or appearance’. There you will see 2 more dropdown boxes. Click on the top one and select, ‘United States – English’ – and that’s it.

Now, under that there is a postage box, so just enter 0.00 since your product is a digital download. Enter the email address you use for your Paypal account and then go to Step 3 (there is nothing to change in step 2, so bypass that).

4. Okay, we’re on the final page (Step 3) where you will see this list of questions (yeah I know it looks a little daunting , but it’s not I promise)

‘Do you want to let your customer change order quantities?’
Answer = ‘NO’.

‘Can your customer add special instructions in a message to you?’
Answer = ‘YES’.

‘Need your customer's postal address?’
Answer = ‘NO’ (digital download again).

‘Take customers to this URL when they cancel their checkout’.
Tick the radio button and enter the URL of your sales page, so your customer is taken back there if they get cold feet.

‘Take customers to this URL when they finish checkout’.
Now listen up, because this is important – When you’re setting up your download page, rename it something unidentifiable to thieves, i.e. use a bunch of random digits such as - gdt45jnbg5k8 – Never leave it as, ‘download’ or ‘thankyou’ because you’re asking for trouble. So the download page URL will be

http://www.yourdomain.com/gdt45jnbg5k8.php - This is the URL you would enter in that box.

This way nobody but you will know its URL and those undesirables won’t find it without paying first. Notice the file extension has been changed to .php, this is because Paypal prefers it that way, I don’t know why and who am I to argue.

5. 5. Finally, Hit ‘Create Button’ then copy and paste the source code to your website in the relevant spot.

Voila! You’re done.

Good luck.
