Warrior Forum SHOCKER: Could Focusing On Making Money -- Be Making You Fail?!?

I have a strange idea, one that most people are not going to like.

If you look at the most successful companies in the world, the truth is, they did not initially nor do they continue to focus solely on making money!

Example:

Virgin - The global billion dollar 255 or so company conglomerate started by Sir Richard Branson. Why does he say he started the company? "For Fun" He said he never got into business to make money, he did it because he enjoyed it and loved the challenge.

He has given his business purpose by focusing on humanitarian, scientific and cultural advancement. He tries to put a smile on peoples faces with every business he starts and finds industries where the customer is being under-served -- then turns the industry on its head.

Microsoft -- Bill Gates never realized that putting a computer in every home would require him to have a billion dollar company. He just loved programming and had a vision for the future he wanted to bring into reality.

Warren Buffet - I know some people are going to bite about this one. However, Warren Buffet absolutely loves what he does. There is nothing he would rather do in the world -- and theres proof. At $50 or so billion dollars, he could do anything. He doesn't do it just to make money, he truly loves stock valuation and capital allocation, its what hes passionate about.

So what I am suggesting to you, in the words of the late Gary Halbert is, "Stop focusing on how much money you can make, and start focusing on how many people you can help"

You will win back your soul.

I dont mean that in a religious sense as im not religious. What I mean is you will gain a firey fighting spirit that no amount of focus on just money alone could get you.

You will gain a fire in your belly unlike any you ever had trying to get rich quick. Theres nothing wrong with making money. Not a thing. However if you want to give your life more purpose than just getting rich - you can change the world, improve many peoples live and get rich all at once.

The richest men in the world have proven it.

So what you should take away from this is give your business a higher purpose in addition to making money. Why are you selling these products? What are you trying to accomplish? How are you trying to affect the world by the value you give and the business you do?

    Why do you think this is a strange idea or that people won't like it?

    This is my own philosophy and has done very well for me.

    I'd agree with that 100%. When you do things for the love of money, when the going gets tough and the money slows down, you bail instead of riding it out. Seems all of the guys you mentioned above had a rough patch that they had to push through before the bigtime success came.

      This is exactly why I've never been able to move into niches that I don't enjoy in some way. I know there are a lot of marketers that make great money in niches that they could care less about, but it's just not my cup of tea. If I'm not enjoying it, I might as well be trading hours for dollars at a J-O-B.

    But i think they know where to draw line. For example if you're programmer and just keep on writing code and making programs but less promote it then sure you'll make less money. Bill gates becomes rich because he knows when to stop loving thing and when to start marketing it. { this is lesson to me actually cause i love programming but make less money from it now you know the resaon why :/}
