What's a good opt-in rate in your experience?

Hi,
I'm involved with a couple of niches and I've been posting in forums for a few days now. I'm getting a few subscribers but it's going pretty slow.

In your experience, what's a good opt-in rate? dy the day? month?

It depends on how much information you are asking for (phone, name, surname, address, gender etc.) and what you are offering in exchange.

If you are offering $1,000 for free, a good optin rate would be probably be 100%

If you are offering the usual IM fluff and asking for just the first name and email address, I hear that:
    10% is bad
    15% is normal
    20% is good
    30% is very good
    50% is excellent
    60% and above is exceptional

But again it all depends on your ROI.
If you can make a lot of money from a 5% optin rate
by perhaps having a $10,000 backend, then who is to
say that your 5% optin rate is bad.

So I think that it all depends if you are making a good profit
    or not.

      That's very encouraging...
According to my aWeber stats one of my opt-in pages has a 52% conversion rate and the other one just 22. However I'm getting only 2-3 subscribers a day.

      Thanks so much!!

It sounds like your data is not statistically significant yet. No way you can tell the effectiveness of an opt in page with that few subscribers.

But to answer your question. It all depends on your traffic source. My squeeze page is converting at 62% at the moment with ad-swap/JV traffic. I find that extremely good. I also had a 58% conversion rate from forum traffic.

That same squeeze page is only converting at 15-20% for PPC traffic. The conversion rate is dramatic, but a 20% conversion rate for PPC traffic is not bad at all... could be a bit higher.

Are you getting all of your opt-ins strictly through your forum posting, or are you using other methods to drive traffic?
