Could this be a major flaw in your marketing strategy?

In no way do I consider myself a expert, but please read the entire post before commenting, I think I have a valid point.

Why do many of you feel that placing article's on your own site first would be a better option than first posting it to eza?

I understand that it gives you more credit and control over your content. But, wouldn't placing the article on your own site first take from the full potential of the eza's ranking?

This very well may simply be my crazy mind working to hard, but,

If posting to your site first does not take from the full potential of the eza version, wouldn't this mean that there is a major flaw in the design of how search engines decide to rank pages, I am very reluctant to explain the flaw in more detail because I don't want to give out any bad ideas (there are tons of ways to run with this), not that many of you aren't already hip to this but I don't think there's enough to cause major problems as of yet because most people are more willing to take advice (that could be right or wrong) than they are to test things for themselves.

This is just something that's been on my mind for a while, so I decided to see how the rest of you feel about it.

My site is less than a month old but most pages so far have been indexed within 24 hours of being created and show in the serp's when their titles are searched. But when I publish the articles to eza my pages get bumped (sometimes), even to the point where it's not showing at all but still indexed.

I know that some of your explanation will be that my site might not have as much rank as eza.

So why do people tell newbies to do this when 9 times out of ten their sites are new and have little chance of competing with eza.

I thought that EZA would not accept your article if it was not an 'original' article. If it has already been published on your own site, then it would be a duplicate, and therefore EZA would not accept it.

Am I wrong in this thinking?

That's just one of many lies/myths that are spreed around, started by: who knows. It's hard to believe anything these days. It seems that some people will lead you astray purposely

You can have your article published at 100 different locations and they (EZA) will still accept it as long as the author name is the same for every instance of the article. You can also go one step further and email them to let them know the article is published elsewhere but you are the actual author.

      Respectfully,

If I have a choice between having a page on my site (my article) ranking higher then a page on EZA's site then I'd jump on it like a duck on a junebug.

For any and all long tail keyword phrases or low hanging fruit keyword phrases you want the article on your site to rank, not necessarily an article on EZA. THose articles shoudl be on your site first.

For all competitive phrases that you can't rank for with your site but have a chance at getting your article on EZA to rank well it probably doesn;t matter where you submit it first.

At the end of the day if an article on EZA is going to outrank your site, it based on other factors, not where the article was first published.

That's why most people do both. But if I had to choose one or the other, I would definitely put them on my site. If they are on my site, instead of seeing all the extra EZA navigation, they are seeing my own.

I've got sites with lots of pages. And if people pumped all those articles into there own site, and monitored with analytics, they would see how many long tail searches they could get.

        Hi guys,

        I agree in doing both.

If not from a ranking perspective but more from a traffic and credibility perspective.

Posting articles to EZA is great for generating targeted traffic back to your site as well as creating backlinks from a highly ranked directory.

But with posting it on your site also, you are able to provide the quality content for your readers who, let's face it, wouldn't have much chance of finding your article amongst all the others unless specifically looking for it.

Also, it is true that you can post the same article on numerous sites, as long as it has the same author. But you can't post the same article twice on the same site.

That is the reasoning behind the minisite method.

        I hope this helps.

If you want to talk further just give me a shout.

Hi, the other advantage of ezine is that, webmasters copy the article and use it on their own sites, this has a viral effect for the original author..
