Affilliates: Send paid traffic directly to offer or squeeze page first?

Hi,

If you pay to generate traffic (as an affilliate), would you send them to a squeeze
page first or directly to the offer?

I am struggeling to decide what to do

Pros of sending to a squeeze page
Get to follow up with them with that offer and others

Cons of sending to a squeeze page
You pay a lot of money to get those prospects to a site,
a lot of them will not confirm the subscription to your list
and so will not be redirected to the offer.

Pros of sending directly to offer
Prospects are very targeted and hot, ready to buy
with lesser loops to jump through before they spend

Cons of sending directly to offer
No way of following up with those that did not purchase
right away.

Your experience?

Regards,

Sam

    Here's what I do.
AlWAYS use your own squeeze page to build your list. No list no prospects to talk to.

Double opt-ins require too much commitment from the viewer...Use a single opt-in. Statistically, it has been shown that it works better.

I've gone through the grind of directly linking to affiliate offers or even using landing pages, my strategy onward is to make building build lists a priority. Most people will not purchase a product the first time they come across the sales page, so it is important to remind them of the primary product several times, while you provide some helpful information about the product or some tips.

Many people don't take the time to educate people and go from offer to offer, but once someone is on the list it is good to continue reminding them of the benefits of that primary offer before moving on to other offers in the backend.

I know exactly how agonising that type of decision can be but you have to decide what type of promotion or affiliate site(s) you want to run, not every niche is good for list building although a lot are.

If you can build a list then that's really good, but remember you are also putting another step in the conversion process so you need to be careful that your potential customers are suitable for "list building" or else you just lose the sale.

There are many online businesses that never have a list so don't think it's the be all and end all in certain markets/niches,

    SQUEEZE PAGE

Please, don't ever send your traffic, paid or organic, to a vendor page before your own.. It's just not right.

Collect that traffic, build your list...

Pre-sell them, and THEN you can send them to the merchant.

You have to focus on the pre-sell. I cant tell you the number of times I have clicked on even a banner ad and been taking directly to an offer, and been turned off.

Maybe it is just my opinion and the way that I shop, but I really want to be given at least SOME information about what it is Im going to buy before being thrown to the buy now page. This is why in theory product reviews work so well, although that seems to be downward trend as there is a real shortage in honest reviews out there these days.

If you can give me small, influencial details through a landing page that quickly and easily give me the answers I need...then there is double the chance that I will take a step further and give you my details or even pull out the plastic.

I always send traffic to my own squeeze page and double opt in mail as the download link to my freebie, but sometimes I've noticed that my commissions drop down when the affiliate offer is another squeeze page... I keep the suscriber but loose the commision.

Now I try to stay away from those kind of offers.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

I think I will test it (although it is going to cost as I drive the
    traffic with direct mail)

5000 names from the listbroker to test the list. 1000 letters will
send them to a squeeze page and 1000 to the video sales letter via
    my affilliate link.

    Thanks all

    definitely squeeze page

you can direct them to an offer immediately after they opt in. Just put at the top of the page something like "You should receive your report in about 10 minutes. Please check your email inbox to confirm your subscription and receive your report ($97 value)" In the meantime check this exclusive offer out...

I find that works well and you can offer an OTO right away after they opt in.

The debate continues, single or double opt in

definitely build your own lists and send them to YOUR squeeze pages - I'm meant to be one of these evil vendors who would tell you to send them straight to me But in honestly it will work better for you and for me if you have a list - if you send them straight to me then you make money for a while, but every 2 months cookies go out of date and you need to keep generating traffic... if those people instead entered your list even if you stopped working on that niche you could just send them an offer once a month with very minimal effort and make money off them over and over again.

I always strive to capture the name first (double opt-in for me...helps prevent MEGA trouble). Sometimes I'll test by sending directly to sales page to measure traffic. If viable, I'll add my opt-in layer...

      My point is this.

If you send them to an offer page you lose them forever.

That means you will have to constantly pay for traffic to even make any sales.

Get them on your list and add value to them.

Not only will they buy but they will buy again

How refreshing it is to see every single response encouraging you to send the traffic to a squeeze page. There's a place for direct linking (occasionally), but if you are just starting out, build that list and you can literally write your own paycheck.
