Is Headway a good WP Theme?

I'm looking for a good WP Theme that can be easily customized and offers clean layouts. I've considered Thesis but have read that it can be difficult to use.

I came across Headway and like the fact that it has a visual editor and appears use friendly. Any opinions out there? Or other recommendations?

Thanks!
Merlyn

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I just wanted to say that I bought Headway about a week ago and am looking forward to tinkering with it.

It looks extremely easy to customize - I think all you need to do to change your layout is drag and drop.

Thank you Curtis! The drag and drop capability is one of the things that has me intrigued.

I was on a webinar yesterday with Michael Martine of remarkablogger.com and he was discussing blogging tools and mentioned Headway so I decided to check it out.

Keep me posted once you use try it out.

      Thanks again!

Even though Headway is probably easier to use, I've yet to see a site running Headway that actually looks 'polished'.

Most are terrible looking, and the best are average.

As for your best option, it depends on what you need a theme to do. Thesis might be right for you, or not. Perhaps a free theme would do. Or maybe something from ThemeForest for a specific project.

It's difficult to get a 'one size fits all' design.

For what it's worth, I'm running Thesis. But to get it looking like mine does takes a lot of work.

Dietriffic does have a point, but its not the fault of the theme; its more the fault of the users. I've seen some very professional and clean looking Headway sites; (thing is -- you'd not know they were Headway sites).

I've not actually used it, yet... but, from a programmer's view point; what I have seen that it can do and the way in which it is laid out, I would recommend it to anyone; (that can afford it).

My only advice would be to take your time getting used to it and use its functions in full. Make sure to pay close attention to their tutorial videos; (and all the tutorial vids on YouTube, as well).

Good Luck; you'll make a good choice with Headway

      Hey Merlyn,

I own a Web application and development company and have put out over 800 sites.
It continues to amaze me when I see cool products like this.

For the $164 it seems like a really good deal, especially if you were going put up several sites.

My only word of caution is: Take the time to learn the product!

So many folks get a hold of great tools and want to get results right away. The whole attitude of I will just poke around and learn as I go is really a killer. Go some where where you can not be disturbed, (I like to do this stuff at 2:00 am), Put on your learning hat and run through all the docs before you even start a project.

Developers often think like developers and tend to expect you to know. But I looked at the docs and they seem to have a good grasp of the user.

I have not used the product but if you take my FREE* advice I think you will like it.

      I hope this helps

I was a long time Thesis user, and it is a really good theme but......
Headway is by far, easier to use and customize without having to add any code.
The Visual editor is amazing it really is drag and drop, if you want a theme that you can customize easily my advise get Headway.
