    I only use it to give visitors leaving a sample of my product. I also don't use it when I am using Adwords because Google won't allow it. I use it with article marketing and e-mail marketing.

    It pisses off this customer. I have ran into a bunch lately that even when you click the cancel, which is supposed to let you get out of the page, you get another last offer to buy, and not the page you wanted. Very irritating. Sure as hell doesn't make me want to think about it and come back ang buy.

    I use them to survey my customers that are leaving. I just finished collecting 500 responses that are going to allow me to tweak the product even further.

    I use them on one of my ecommerce stores and they work great. They only see it if they've added a product to the cart and then try to leave.

    I have a 3 step cart checkout and once I started using it, the abandonment in that particular stage went way down. It's an excellent tool, for me, to increase conversion rate.

    Does it piss visitors off? I don't really see why it would. I love it cause they usually offer me a discount.

    I don't care if it's effective...and yes it actually can be pretty effective SOME TIMES and in the right places, but it pisses me off, and I'm not a used car salesman.
