How can I contact others learning the same product

I have bought a number of IM products over the years and have usually had the experience of everything going well until I encounter a certain technical problem in learning or using the product (i.e., I "get stuck"). Of course the guru-seller has decided it is not practical for him or her to entertain individual post-sale "how to" questions since theoretically all the information necessary for success is contained in the product and the product is often touted as being "newbie-friendly" in the first place so there "should not be" any questions anyway. Moreover, the product owner has created no forum for buyers to troubleshoot with each other technical issues they may be having.

And I have found that it is usually very difficult to research what is a very arcane, unique-to-that-product problem or technical question. For example, I got no Yahoo Answers answer to my question, "has the YouTube Wonder Wheel - not the Google Wonder Wheel but the YouTube Wonder Wheel - suddenly vanished or am I no longer searching on YouTube in the correct location for the Wonder Wheel?" Since learning to use the YouTube Wonder Wheel was step number 16 (out of 30 steps) in learning the method of this video marketing product, I was not able to proceed with the remaining 14 steps and at that point would have been better off had I never commenced to try to master the product in the first place.

The question is: is there some ethical, legitimate method (on or off the WF) of contacting other purchasers of a certain product so I can mastermind with them or so that he or she can help me when I get stuck at step 16 (or I help him or her at step 9)? Or any other suggestion? Thanks, Steve

You mean they don't have a support forum? I don't typically buy a product that involves programming if there is not a support forum, unless of course it is so well known that I know for sure it will work perfectly out of the box.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

No programming is involved but if your grandmother bought a "newbie friendly" IM product ("no programming required!") on WF she might have crucial questions about using that product which would have to be answered if she were to actually successfully use it even if it were "step-by-step". I may know more about IM than she but could still be stuck due to my not being able to execute a crucial step, as in the YouTube Wonder Wheel location question I posed. If, for example, I buy on WF Guru Mike J. Smith's "Offline Secrets to Making Money with Email, Digg and Adsense" and he had no forum set up, could I contact other purchasers of "Offline Secrets to Making Money with Email, Digg and Adsense" to see if they have the same problem (and maybe have discovered a workaround) as I do? How might I best contact them? Thanks for your input.

Could you post a message on Facebook, Twitter etc? Maybe put up a post on one of your blogs and then social bookmark the post.

Someone might see one of these who also bought the program and get in touch.

When I started I was new to computers as well as to online marketing.

I constantly ran into instructions I didn't understand - and have said since if google charged for searches they'd be rich just from me looking up "how to" stuff.

But I found what I needed by being persistent and figuring stuff out on my own. It something didn't work - I googled it again and tried a different way. I agree posting it on your facebook or twitter could help - you would need someone to volunteer. Contacting other customers might not go over too well even if you could do that.

Yes, googling a problem or obstacle has often helped me get to answers and there is no substitute for persistence although it is sometimes not easy to get excited about persisting with an answer that I know many people could answer at a glance - but if that's the payment I must give, then that's the way it is. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Steve

Thanks, posting a statement on FB or Twitter might lead somewhere.

Thanks. A lot of my FB and Twitter people aren't IM'ers but some are so I may see where that leads.

I'd suggest to start a thread here in the WF to contact
anyone who purchased this specific product and then continue
    the discussion in the PM...

    Seems pretty ethical to me.

I belong to a large community of Internet Marketers who sell the same product. We all connect with each other online and at live events. I even have about 5 people who live near me in San Diego and we all hang out together and brainstorm.
I hope you can find someone because it is powerful.

Wow! This was an excellent post! It's definitely happened to me before, and I really felt like I wasted $497.00 (that I didn't have to waste). I could reach the support desk, yet their answers were very brief and they never really answered my questons. I really wanted to receive a reply for the person whom I bought the product from in the first place. It didn't have to be a lengthy reply, but in my opinion, when you support someone's product, they should personally support you if the situation calls for that. Certainly I understand that he cant reply to everyone personally; yet I wanted to speak to him about making his product more newbie friendly (I would have even lended a hand once I spoke to him).

Needless to say, I'll never purchase a product from him again because I felt swindled, and today's age of Web 2.0, that's not good. I didn't but someone could have easily blasted him throughout the internet.

I wish you the best of luck!

I don't think that you have to ask someone else that has the same product a question. You can just ask the question here and be specific.

You could ask, "does anyone here know where the YouTube Wonder Wheel has gone?" Then ask, "is there another tool, Google or other, that does virtually the same thing?"

The community will answer your questions, possibly even better than the product owner or other buyers would have.
