Yahoo Buzz, Google News....

I want to take a news article that was interesting to me and write about it for Hubpages or Xomba. If I make some adsense, fine, if not, okay. My main point is just to flex my brain muscles as a writer.

Should I provide a link directly to the article, which I found in Yahoo Buzz? Or do I just need to say that Yahoo Buzz is where I found this story? Or do I only say "the news today reported that..." or "a fascinating story floating around the internet today concerned....."

Are there different guidelines to follow if you're talking about something that concerns everyone, like the economy or what the Senate voted on, as opposed to something interesting about some individual?

What about photos? Can I copy the photo that went with the article in Yahoo Buzz as long as I credit it?

I would go with the "In the news" or "A story on the internet"....approach. Use that as a lead-in, which just adds to your credibility. Places your article within a conversation.

I don't see anything wrong with providing the link either. Just be sure to offer a new perspective so people don't just think you are rehashing the same info!

As far as pictures go, I THINK it is against copyright laws to use photographs without the publisher's permission, but I am not really too savvy on copyright laws so I could be wrong.

It doesn't hurt to provide the link/reference to the
main article. I remember back in college, my
professor always wants us to reference our sources,
