Discouraged? Here's What You Need to Know!

Sadly....you left out the part where people get handed a one way ticket to Xanadu and a million dollar check in 48 hours.

Truth is....a lot of people quit....because they SHOULD.

Reality is a real bitch...and for some reason....this medium called IM....leads people to believe that they can push a button and get rich without a product....or much of anything else.

I say let them go back to fixing slushy machines at 7/11 for 7 bucks an hour because that type of mentality is where they belong.

Good post. Too intelligent and well thought out for a large number of lottery seekers in this joint, however.

Too bad this industry promotes itself as a 1 hour road to riches, fame, hot chicks, and millions....in order to con the suckers who truly are born by the minute.

What's even sadder?

Anyone who buys into that dream....can actually "breed" idiots like themselves. Future slushy machine fixers et al.

Good points Mel and you talk about "getting known" and starting a blog but I think one thing a lot of "newbies" don't really plan for is just how they are going to get enough traffic to whatever they are going to promote?

You don't always need as much traffic as you might think but it depends on EXACTLY how you are approaching your marketing.

For example a blog will usually need a lot of regular content and a lot of traffic, whereas a well targeted niche site can be fairly successful with a lot less content and traffic.

You need to plan on how to get your traffic, it can be instant but very costly with ppc, and there are loads of free or very cheap methods but it will usually take quite a bit of time and effort.

One things for sure though, you can get everything else absolutely spot on but NO TRAFFIC usually means NO SALES so don't forget to focus on how you're going to do that in your plan,

Great post Mel. Really inspiring.

Lots of people quit because they tend to do too many things at the sametime without having the patience to finish anything.

They try their hands on affilite marketing, then they hear of blogging and begin to work on that, after that they hear someone talk of website flipping and the profits in it, then they abandon blogging and go into that, soon its about submitting articles to e-zines, or list building or seo...
At the end of the day, they end up doing nothing actually.

The reason for this is information over-load. So my first advice for any newbie trying to make money in IM is to FOCUS on ONE aspect of generating cash through internet marketing and stick to it till you achieve results.

If you want to create and sell your own info product, then stick to that and don't dabble into any other thing till you've successfully created and launched your product.

My second advice is this: Don't procrastinate.
Before you begin each day, write down a list of what you intend to do that day and see to it that you finish the assignment before the day ends. This may seem simple to do but it's funny how people postpone things. If you've decided to write a chapter a day for the next 7 days, then stick to that. Begin each day by looking at the issues you intend to solve that day and make sure you solve it before the day runs out.
You can celebrate your success for that day by giving yourself a treat after the completion of each task. That will keep you motivated.

Thirdly, when you're online don't get distracted.
Don't get distracted by another website that won't help to achieve your goal for that day.
Don't get distracted by your favorite forum except you need something there.
Don't get distracted by your favourte fun sites.
Infact don't open them at all because if you do, you'll find yourself browsing through them and loosing valuable time.
That's what i'm doing now. I've vowed not to open ESPN's soccernet.com till i'm through with what I'm doing in this forum today.

Providing value over building your own list is one good idea to get known by the public first. That way, you can also see how majority of people are dealing with certain problems and then approaching them is great way to start showing your skills.

I wonder how you managed to get to this point of sharing your personal experience. there are no many that will advise there friends not to fall in the trap that they have once fallen in.

At times, when I faced problems in IM, I thought of quitting..But I always tell myself this way, Choosing to moving on means I still have a chance to succeed and change my life..If I choose to quit..that's it..the effort I have put in would be gone and I would be a loser still..
