Getting rid of Joomla

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was an easy way to get rid of joomla on a site. I started a site a little while ago that I haven't done anything with, but I did put joomla on it. However, I would prefer it to now be a normal HTML website.

Is there a way to easily get rid of Joomla? I have already uploaded a INDEX.html page which is now my front page. However, I still have all the joomla stuff clogging up the server and from a house keeping point of view I wanted to get rid of it but since I am not an expert I don't know which files are joomla files and which ones are not and if I delete the wrong ones it could obviously hurt my other websites etc that are on the same server.

Can anyone suggest a way of doing this easily. Or alternatively list the main joomla files that I need to delete on my server.

any help would be grately appreciated.

    Hmm....

Just clear out all the files from the directory you installed Joomla in. Then go to your Phpmyadmin or whatever you use for database admin and delete the MYSQL database for that joomla installation.

Thats it. If you installed from fantastico then just go there , click on joomla on the left and click the uninstall button.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I do have cpanel (I use bluehost) and I installed it by fantastico (I believe) the first thing I tried was to try and look for an unistall button, but couldn't find one. I will go back and have another look. Now I have been told that there should be one, I will look harder.

Thanks again everyone, you have probably just saved me hours of searching for the answer, and a little bit of server space aswell.

Quick update. I have just unistalled it via fantastico. Easy as pie and it seems to have worked like a charm.

        Thanks everyone.
