Can you sell email addresses from your own domain?

I was noticing on Ebay that there were people selling (and getting some nice prices) for email addresses for some newly announced hot products in the technology area.
for example: [hotproduct]shop@gmail.com or hotmail.com and such.

If you have a domain name that is product oriented, is it possible to sell (or rent maybe) email addresses for the domain that you own? such as [theirname]@yourhotproductdomain.com

    You could, but if those people generate spam complaints, it affects your domain.

    Its funny you say this. I was watching a commercial one day on the brand new blackberry bold that was new and i bought the domain AND some gmail addresses.

    Sold those email addresses on ebay for over $100 for two of them. CRAZY
