Paypal Redirection Problem

Hi,

I finished my website and tested it for payments. But I have realized that when the payment is done, automatic redirection to my thankyou page does not work. Buyers have to click on return merchant link.

What should i do?

    Hi,

Did you set your "where people should go after they pay" link? It's under one of those drop-down menus as you go through setting up your button. It appears as though it's only for certain purposes, but that's where you indicate your thank you or download page. When people buy, they should immediately go there.

If you've set this all up properly, make sure you entered the correct URL and that the page is where it should be on your server.

I would also recommend you as Sylvia mentioned above.

However, you can remove the current PayPal button and set up a new one in PayPal button factory. There you should take care to fill the redirection option carefully.

    Thank you for the replies

Yes i have already set the redirection link and entered my website's thank you page. But it is not automatic. I have to click on the link (return to merchant).

    Maybe another problem?

I don't know, guys... when I buy or sell - there is always a "return to merchant" button.

    Sylvia and Abdul,
How comes you never see that orange button?

I would love to know how to autoredirect to my thank you pages. That page in the middle is such a pain! I found out how to change the text on the button itself, but I heard you can't auto redirect because of legal reasons for Paypal or something.

That's the way it's done with Paypal

Can you explain how to change the "Return to merchant" link

If there's a concern about some customers not understanding the "Return to merchant" link you could change it to "Click here to get your items"

That's because I don't pay much attention. Some purchases go right to download, but I haven't really noted which payment service is used. And I have no way of checking my own PP buttons, so I wouldn't see it there either. Not that it isn't there, mind you.

Does Clickbank have the same issue or do they redirect to your download page?

Even if you sell through CB and I am going to pay for your product/service with my paypal account (because I hate to use my CC...) - I will still end up with the return to merchant button

Buried in PayPal's maze of crappy documentation, you can find this little tidbit after some hours of searching over the course of many days...

Automatic redirection ONLY works when you use your PayPal balance to pay. If you use any other payment method, you MUST click "Return to Merchant."

Hmmm, that's good to know, thanks.

Here's a new issue for me today with PayPal:

On the receipt page where normally (at least last time I checked) there's an orange "Return To Merchant" button to link to the download page, I'm just getting an easy-to-miss "Return To Merchant" TEXT link only.

I couldn't even find it at first, and I've been having buyers today tell me they didn't see a return to merchant link.

The only thing different on my end is that the account I'm using to place a test order doesn't have a PayPal balance so it has to be funded from a bank account. I don't think that'd make it any different, but if not, where did the normal orange "return" button go to?!!
