What is a normal conversion ratio for PHYSICAL products?

#1 when the browser is actually searching for the product by name

#2 general search

I have a site that falls in category #2 now getting 200-300 visitors daily. It's selling (affiliate links) fairly high-end decoration products.

The thing is I'm averaging a sale every 3 days... that's one 1/600+ conversion ratio. Ouch! The commissions are high but I still feel I must be off the mark.

I don't think you'll find a 'normal' conversion rate for anything. There's too many factors involved.

However, you can focus on improving your conversion rate. Split test different copy on your pages, try new things to see if you can get a better response. Just be sure to track everything so you can tell where your traffic is coming from and what pages are working for you.

Yea I agree with Tyson, there's too much that effects conversion rates.

For physical products your niche makes a big difference... some niches like physical products better than others.

Such as personal development niche is more likely to buy a physical product than internet marketing.

The thing is for physical products, I use the merchant's database description. There's no real sales copy. With 2000+ products there's no sense in rewording these...

I did change the theme and homepage.

Too soon to tell how that affects anything. I did make one giant sale 3 days ago

The convertion rates for hot waffles is a little different than the convertion rate for a Mercedes CLK.

Still I find that I have a higher conversion rate on the clicks I send to Amazon compared to Clickbank. It varies between 3 and 5, but I expect the conversion rate to be higher during november and december.
