Niche, Micro Niche Market Question

Hi,

Would these keywords be examples of a Niche, Micro Niche and Micro Niches? Drilling Down?

get rid of frogs - Niche?
get rid of big frogs - Micro Niche?
get rid of big fat green frogs - Micro Micro Niche?
get rid of big fat green frogs with warts

I am trying to figure out how to find a niche, but first I need to know exactly what a niche is. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

You did a good a good job finding those niches but there is one problem. The search volume is very low and some keyword doesn't seems to have any searches. I would rather advise you to find a decent search per month and with low competion.

whichever niche you select.. it should have a good search volume and low competing sites

You're on the right track. It will depend on the niche, though. It's not necessarily a matter of size or color, though it could be in some niches.

For example, getting rid of pests would be a niche. A micro niche might be getting rid of frogs. That's a niche within the niche. Drilling down further, you may have niches such as getting rid of tree frogs or getting rid of bullfrogs.

It depends on what people are searching for and in what levels of specificity. If they are looking to get rid of frogs, why would they be trying to figure out how to get rid of big frogs? They don't mind the little frogs? Likewise with big fat green frogs? The little skinny brown frogs are okay? I would think that, in both of those cases, people are going to be looking for ways of getting rid of frogs.

But, from there, they may be looking at how to get rid of certain types of frogs. It may be that their problem is bullfrogs. They don't care how to get rid of tree frogs because there aren't any around their house. They just need to know how to get rid of bullfrogs.

Now, if the color is important, than it can be a niche (or micro niche, etc.). For example, if certain areas were known to have issues with green frogs and other areas had issues with brown frogs, then you've got two different niches. If, however, brown and green frogs are an issue in each area, then the niche is getting rid of frogs and the colors are really more descriptive than niche worthy. You'd want to target those keywords but that doesn't necessarily make them separate niches.

You've got it right! How do you get rid of frogs anyway?

    Juxter,

I said this before in a previous post. I niche is not a group of people BUT an OPENING within a group of people.

Staying with your example of frogs. People who are looking to get rid of frogs are a market. Within that market you DISCOVER that there are a lot of people who are looking to get rid of frogs in a "green" way (no chemicals or death for mr Frog). Yet there are no products that enables the desperate tree huggers (not to offend anybody) to get rid of said frogs in a "green" way.

THAT is a niche. An opening in a market. Develope a product to get rid of frogs in a "green" way and sell it to them.

    Regards,

    Sam

PS. Low search volumes and low competing products don't mean squat! If there is a niche (real niche like explained above, you won't have a problem selling your product)
