Regarding 'Bum Marketing'

A lot of people are taken in by this name. Well, I hate to break it to you, but bums don't make money. The only people that are making money are the people that are working hard at it. Stop being a bum and do some work.

If you think that there is a chance that I am directing this statement at you, then you are probably right.

      My point was that the term itself attracts people that think they can make money by doing nothing. I was not bashing or speaking of any of the actual methods behind it... only stating that whatever method that is will take work.

    And although I am working night and day (it's 1.15am here in Dublin), I feel I am not doing enough or maybe I am not working as smart as I should in order to get the results that I want...

    Even within bum marketing there are "hard" ways and "smart" ways. It's not all about just banging out as many articles as you can. I guess it's the difference between panhandling near the slums vs. on the corner near the country club. (hint hint)

    Travis Sago's "Bum Marketing" strategy (based a lot on article marketing) is actually a lot of work. I think he coined the term "bum" marketing not because it's supposed to be so easy for lazy people, but because it doesn't require any upfront money for PPC etc. So even poor "bums" with no money can do it.

    One of the flaws in the program is that people can pick long-tail keywords to write articles about and not know whether those particular keywords are "conversion" keywords which are going to make affiliate sales for them. It might be better for people to use a small amount of PPC advertising (maybe $5) to test a few keywords to find out if they're going to attract traffic that converts before wasting lots of time writing articles packed with those keywords.

        It only appears that way. Even the Wild West wasn't the Wild West. Different tools and avenues to customers maybe, but it's business as usual... and as this thread points out... a lot of hard work.

    I agree. There are too many bums out there there is so much competition. If you want to make money as a bum you need to work really hard at it. So if you want to make it easier get some small capital and do some SEO, PPC and banner advertising to your optin page and build a list. You are going to be ahead of 99% of bums that way and make way more money. My two cents.
