How do You make a backup hardcopy of your BLOG?

Hi warriors,

I don't know if this is the right place in the forum to ask this so if it's not then i guess you can go ahead and move it to the proper place. Anyways, here's my question.

How do you make a backup hardcopy of your website?

I am thinking of selling some of my blogs on flippa that have already made me some income. But i want to be very careful so that I don't get ripped off. Well, first of all, how easy is it to use escrow? is it safer than paypal?

I want to make a hardcopy backup so that I can ship it to the buyer incase they want to screw me over, that way i'll have a tracking number for paypal.

I heard that you can put the files on a cd but how do you do that with your sql database and wordpress files?

Well, i hope any of you can help me out. OH and one last question, can you sell more than one website as a package on a FLIPPA listing? Thanks guys.

In order to back up your WP site you should do two separate things.
    Let's see...

The first one would be to take all your "theme" files out of your host into your hard disk. To do that you can enter to your cPanel and download the directory with the name of the theme you are using (go into: yourdomain.com/wp-content/themes/...) to your computer, or do the same thing with a FTP software like Filezilla. Just enter the folder with your theme's files, and copy it to your disk. That would take all your theme modifications, with images (of the theme), css and stuff to your PC.

Now, for the MySQL part, you will have to get into the mySQL databases managment from your cPanel. There you will find (on the left side, generally) a list with all your databases, in case you have many. You have to chose the one you want to backup. Then on the right side you will find a list of the "folders" inside that database, you should chose all of them and start with the backup.

I will strongly suggest you google for "mysql database backup" just to be sure with parameters to click before you get the file to be exported. I mean, I'm no mysql genious, so... google for it just so I can sleep quietly tonight knowing you get all your files propperly.

    Have fun!

Hello and thanks for your input. Actually, I already know how to backup my wordpress files to my computer and also the database. I just don't know how to put them on a cd so that I will have a hardcopy that I can mail my customer.

        Is this a trick question?

Once they are on your hard drive, copy them to a CD.

          It's not a trick question.LOL

So I assume that you just copy them on to the cd like you would into a zip drive?

If you don't know how to burn it into a CD -- no problem. Just get them a small USB drive that is 64 RAM for like $2 on ebay and ship it to your customers.

This is what I was thinking of doing, just copying them on a zip drive and sending it to them but I wasn't sure if it was the same as copying them on to a cd.
