Hi guys,

I think I got a serious problem. I finished a niche website about a week ago and started to get backlinks to it. I submitted to a few (only the best) link directories, had some backlinks from forums, blogs with as good PR as possible. I also wrote some free classified ads and submitted my site to digg and propeller. My site was getting indexed within 2-3 days and was ranked on the third page for my main keyword.

After a few days, it was on the 11th spot, but now it disappeared totally!

Does my site get sandboxed, because I was building links to agressively (which I don't really think) or what could happen?

And if yes, is there any way to get back to the front of the result pages?

Thanks for the answers!

Dave

Give it a few days, if the site is still quite new it'll probably come back. Google does this when it's trying to decide where to rank you.

Ha, I had the same problem last week I had a Greek language site which came in for No1 on Page one in 2 days yep, It was a very small niche and in the Greek language. Strange thing was after three days it completely disappeared from google altogether.
So I went to my Google account and in the webmaster control panel submitted the site (which I dont normally do ) and pressed Request reconsideration.
The site is now back up although not No1 anymore (about No4) but at least its back.

That's the sandbox in action. Do not stop building links, nothing is too much unless you are building 1000 links a day (just my guess).

If your niche is competitive, it can take up to 1 year for your site to get out of the sandbox. Give it some time and keep building links. If you need to bring in some traffic, try forums and social media sites.

    hi Dave,

Yes, it could be the reason that you are building links
too aggressively right from the start if your site is
    relatively new.

It also depends on what sites you're building your backlinks,
quality sites do you good and vice versa. And I don't really
know how aggressive you're doing it, so I can't tell.

Although this is one possibility that can really happen with Google,
to my SEO knowledge, they do monitor this as one of the
measures from preventing people to abuse the system.

But at this point, it's really hard to tell what happened
    for sure.

Your not building your links too agressively, unless your building 1000's per day

not sure why your site did this without looking in detail what you were doing

I have not been sandboxed for a long time, this could be just an adjustment in the algo for the search index, this happens all the time

so if you are constantly looking at this it will drive you nuts, point is no one owns a ranking spot

use good content, get backlinks and make sure to get many of them to your internal pages this counts more than your home page

the other thing is to make sure to have tracking code on your pages showing where in the search engine results they are finding you

doing this will show which keywords Google is using for you and the weak ones you focus on

      Thanks guys!

      Just some details:

It's a hungarian minisite in a niche with about 50.000 competitors, so it's not that hard to break into. I haven't spammed Google with backlinks, I just created a few every day, but it's a relative small niche, so I only could have backlinks from always the same 5-6 sites (which are worth to get a link from). I could imagine, that the first time I got links from such authority sites was a huge boost, and after that, Google just get bored from the repeated links with very similar anchor texts.

I was a bit desperated as I worked a lot on my site, but your replies gave me hope again

    It happens.

Just ease off on the anchor text if you have been too keyword dense and water down the page density for your ranking term. It will re-appear in about a week.

You need to get a software called WebCeo to create successful seo campaigns.

When I start a new website, I will often build a hundred or more links per day and never have a problem with the "sandbox".

Chances are Google is just trying to figure out where your site should land for the moment and will be back in a short time.

I have been in that situation more than once and it can be maddening. I would suggest not looking at it for a while and do the things you know you need to do: Add content consistently, build links, etc...
