Strategy for selling full length ebook?

A while back I wrote a book I intended to publish commercially, but never pursued it. It's about 45,000 words (a little light for standard publication, by about 25,000 words) in total, but it's hard to categorize.

If anyone is familiar with the works of Loompanics Unlimited or Paladin Press, it would fit in with those sorts of "controversial knowledge."

Anyway, what do you think would be the best strategy for this kind of thing?

I've considered cutting it up into various articles and selling them PLR, though getting them down to 300 or 400 words would be difficult. Would people purchase longer articles? (E.g. 600 or 700 words.)

I've also considered something like ClickBank. Do you think it's possible to sell a "long" work there?

Thanks for the insights!

Depending upon the quality of what you have written, you might be able to do a number of things with your manuscript. Certainly, people will and do read books of any length, as long as the information or instruction you are providing is useful or strikes a chord.

Wow. Where to start. Strictly stream of consciousness here. Set up a site for your ebook in toto. Use some snazzy ebook cover generator to get everybody jazzed about your offer. After you are making sales you might want to consider self-publishing your book in hard bound format. Again, if your information or instruction is good, people will buy it... and want to hang onto it. Dollar for dollar people still prefer hard bound books over ebooks. (This may not be a universal truth. I'm speaking from my own experience only.)

When sales start to decline, recycle the book by breaking it into discrete sections, as you've stated, and sell them independently.

Sounds like a great opportunity for you. Go get `em!

Thanks for the excellent responses here

I'm brimming with ideas. Kudos all around!

Edit: Noobie question, but how do I use the "Thank" function...or can I not do that until I'm at a certain number of posts, or something?

Clickbank or PayDotCom should definitely be your first choice. But if it were me, I would NOT just go with the eBook alone. I would record an audio version of it and if possible, create some Camtasia screen cam videos to go along with it. It shouldnt be too hard, considering you've already got the content up. All you are doing, is to recreate the content in different versions.

That way, you have the authority to charge higher prices and your product is seen as premium.

As for selling it, this would have to depend on what you are comfortable with doing. You could just throw it up on CLickbank, shove some money down Google/Yahoo/Bing throats and get them to send you traffic and pray like mad it converts.

I normally recommend my students to take a cool piece of content out from the product itself and offer it FREE and build a list of interested and targeted subscribers. Then, you sell these folks your product. It's always better in the long run

      Hope this helps.

    Oh yes,

as for the "thanks" function, you just hit the thanks button on whoever posted on your thread. no need to chalk up any number of posts etc.
