the warrior way?

So you guys know I've been here for a few days. I've been replying, making threads, all that good stuff... trying to become a part of the community. I think I've figured out something I'm calling "The Warrior Way".

You guys seem real big on creating your own products (ie eBook) and promoting them. As opposed to using your IM skills on promoting other offers from Affiliate Marketing companies.

Is this correct? Cause I've got a few good ideas I've always wanted to make but never really thought it would be viable.

And next... and this is going to make me sound like a newbie bad but how do you make an eBook? I've seen and tried to use the free converters online but they always leave their watermark in the file.

    Product creation is big here because there is good money in it, but there are also website flippers, domain name flippers, affiliate marketers, service providers of all kinds, and all sorts of niche marketers and niches within niches.

    Not sure where you got the idea that product creation dominates, but there are all sorts of marketers and marketing types here.

    As for converting files into PDF, I used Adobe Acrobat. It's expensive, but Open Office has a built in capability to convert files to PDF, and there are free converters you can get for MS Word as well. As for online converters, I found this one to the be the best: Neevia

    Welcome to WF . Don't think of it as e-books, rather think of it as information.

    Basically e-books are information or guides in a pdf format. You could use openoffice.org or microsoftoffice to save normal text documents to pdf's.

    If you have something valuable to share, and you can do it in writing. Then a pdf is the best way. Also using a nice digital cover(picture) can ad some perceived value to the product.

    I don't think it is correct or not correct. Different things work for different people. If you are more into the affiliate stuff and prefer to try that I think you should still go for it.

    It's easy. here's what you do:

    Go to OpenOffice.org and download the free software.

    Next, take the ebook which you should have already
    written in Word or Write it in the OpenOffice freeware and
    hit->Save As PDF link inside the program.

    Sounds simple enough, right?

      There are top marketers who put a lot into promoting affiliate offers, however, I believe they also create their own products.

      In fact, a method I keep seeing written up is to combine your own products with affiliate back-end products. You get them with your product, and this primes them to buy something else. Affiliate products is a great alternative because the work has alrady been done. You can start making up-sells faster that way, than trying to create multiple products for this purpose.

      As far as creating ebooks, the most popular is PDF format. Many ebook compilers do not work on all systems, so in the end, it's safer to go with PDF which seems international.

      I use pdf995 and have done for years. Unfortunately, you cannot lock your pdf with it like you can with Adobe, but as someone said, adobe is expensive. If you did enough books, it'd be worth the cost. Until then, you can use their online free service for 10 ebooks.

    You've gotten a biased view of the members.

    It's against the rules to promote affiliate offers here.

    It's not that people don't do it. Some of the most highly respected Warriors I've met do not have a single product of their own - they only sell affiliate products.

    But they can't do it here. So they don't spend much time here. Some of my personal favourite people - people I look up to and admire for their skill and expertise in marketing affiliate products - almost never post here, and just drop by once or twice a week to look for new WSOs. They might reply to threads three times a month, and they might start one or two threads a year.

    Product creators, on the other hand, benefit a great deal from being here and actively participating in the discussions with their WSOs listed in their signatures. So people like us may seem to be a large part of the people here, but we're really just a large part of the posting.

    Nice share Igor. Also you can choose your direction. In early 2000 I was strictly on-line, I have now went to about 20% on-line and 80% off-line. I now consult brick and mortar businesses on operating on-line. I am also working on a huge local project that I will bring on-line and expand. It's all on what you want to do and identifying your strong points and running with it. My first experience was email affiliate blasting in the late 90's until SPAM laws got tougher, then went to making a web presence, made an e-book that flopped... but kept on going. Persistence is important. And, in IM you should always be trying to "learn" something new as the net is constantly evolving and changing. Best of luck!

    ..and don't forget us developers/wannabe internet marketers generally, warriors are very professional and pleasant to work with, and buy from.

    Not sure about product creation, but there is definitely a big emphasis on building an email list here.

    Don't know if anybody mentioned it above but I think openoffice can produce pdf files (and possibly lock them etc.)

    I didn't mean to make it sound like "that's all this site is good for" and my example was for eBooks but of course product creation knows no bounds.

    I just noticed many threads in this section of the site have to do with creating and promoting ones own product. It's a route I've considered in the past but never felt I was up to par to perform. But reading all of this hear makes it sound like it may be viable to some degree for me.
