What is the cheapest Domain registration company?

I need to reserve a lot of domains for a specific project. Who has the best prices for .com domains?

I found this link when doing a Google search, which has Godaddy .com domains for $6.99 / yr. So far this is the best I have found. (I am not an affiliate):
godaddy.com/compare/gdcompare_domain.aspx?isc=goaz006c
Or just do a Google search for "6.99 domains".

Anyone have a better price than this?

Thanks

Become a reseller and then make purchases under your name. This gives you discount and special offers. Also, open different account at GD, DYN, Name, Moniker. I use DYN (dynadot) because of its simplicity and GD for better prices at times using coupons).

If not, search for discount coupons these are big help when making a purchase.

  • I think that GoDaddy.com is the cheapest and most trustworthy domain name registrar online.

Before ordering domains visit this blog, it's updated every 2-3 days and you can find good discount coupon codes Live Godaddy Promo Codes / Coupons

There's been a nasty virus circulating on Godaddy lately, I'd look into that first before you go with them. Being the biggest domain seller, they are also the most targeted. I use Namecheap myself though I also have a Godaddy account. I have no complaints about Godaddy themselves as for their service, the virus stuff just gave me a scare after several people I know on the SMF help forum went through some hell with it.

I've always used Namecheap, not necessarily because they are the cheapest, but because they've been around for a long time and are trustworthy.

I've heard some bad stuff about GoDaddy and seizing domains so I'm not going near them. Namecheap doesn't claim ownership like Godaddy does, so they can't just up and seize your site. I'd be careful about trying to find the cheapest one, unless your plan is to buy mass domains.

If you're just buying one to get started, it's only an extra $2-3 to get a good registrar.

Hey Tyson, Thanks for that info, you've got me worried now. I've got 5 domains hosted with go daddy, I'm not going to make it six. Can I transfer my domains to go daddy and if so will there be any hassle?

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any more info about Godaddy seizing domains? I've never heard about that. You say that Godaddy claims ownership to the domains I register with them?

        Thanks

You can get 6.99 domains at 1&1 and it comes with free Private Registration...unlike GoDaddy which charges something around $8 for that...

    Cheers,

Please Google 1&1 scam and DO NOT BUY from 1&1. This is the reason not to bargain shop. 1&1 has this little known policy of not allowing you to let your domains expire and they autobill you for it until you have to cancel your credit card to get rid of them and then they get a collection agency on your ass.

Just check nodaddy.com for all the complaints. I've never had a problem, but it does give you pause. I use Namecheap mostly, but Fabulous and Moniker are reputable also.

        So true!

I have debt collectors chasing me for a domain that I let expire. Luckily my credit card expired so they couldn't rebill me.

        How did you resolve this?

        Oz.

Didn't need to resolve. I never bought domains from them, but I have heard all the horror stories about it and it's all over the Internet about their rebilling scam.

I use and recommend namecheap. Its about 8.69 after discount code but you also get 1 yr free private resgistration ( who-is guard ) I transferred my remaining domains from godaddy to namecheap.

If I'm not wrong godaddy appears to have the cheapest domain however my personal preference is with namecheap.
It's $8.88 after discount but they don't try to upsell you a ton of other useless cr@p what's even better is they offer free Whois Guard as well as SSL Certificate. That alone already in my opinion gives me the best value!

Whois Guard can be quite expensive with certain domains.

Godaddy gives discounts for bulk registration that are nice.
I register with Namecheap.com (once you have 50 domains, you email support and ask them to enable GOLDDEAL coupon)
I also register with Godaddy, Fabulous, Moniker.

You do not want to go shopping outside of the norm for the cheapest domain registration. There are a lot of resellers that will be here today and gone tomorrow. Nothing is more important than the security of your domains. If that's gone, you don't have a website. Stay with the top registrars and Google for coupons and discount codes.

I've heard that Godaddy is pretty much the worst choice out there. Because they would take the ownership of your domain at the slightest trouble or spam compliant that some crazy person might send. I don't know how often this actually happens, but personally I prefer to stay away from Godaddy.

Others say Godaddy makes you jump through 20 upsells before you can actually register a domain.

i've never had a problem with godaddy and still hold a couple of accounts with them

however I never use them for hosting, always prefer to use hostgator or yahoo

tbh, with companies like godaddy and 1&1 that are so huge in size there's always going to be cases of unhappy customers and people bad mouthing them... just think of how many happy customers they also have.

Take paypal... I personally have had some major issues with them but I know they have many happy users too so I wouldn't warn people off them, just caution them into making sure they have other options too.

GoDaddy is generally going to be the cheapest as long as you are up-to-date on the latest and greatest coupon codes to use. Beware of renewals however, especially of non-com/net/org. You might find yourself better off transferring to a place like Moniker or iDotz depending on the domain extension if GoDaddy doesn't have a renewal deal or coupon for it. .us is the usual primary culprit where they often have $3 reg deals on them but charge $20 to renew, and Moniker and iDotz will always be cheaper than that for transfer and renewal but not generally for new reg's.

Hi, I have found that 1&1 costs $6.99 for a .com when they run a special. The only problem with 1&1 is that you can only register a domain for a year at a time, and as Google likes to see a domain registered for at least 2 years, I usually get my domains at GoDaddy.
