Hi Warriors,

What is the best method for monetising unused domain names?

Thanks!

You can sell them at places like Sedo.com, afternic.com, namepros.com
  • I just read an article on this.

    Hope that helps.

  • You may also want to redirect it to your other website to get more traffic. Of course assuming that the domain name is related.
  • Whypark.com is a great parking site to check out.
  • The "best" way really depends on the quality and type of domains you have. I just wrote a brief blog post about this on Lynn Terry's blog. Kevin Cotter posted the link above in message #3 (thanks Kevin).

    • Thanks for all the answers! I've tried parking. Doesn't work for me. I have a lot of what I thought were pretty good keyword names. They just didn't get any traffic and even fewer clicks. I've never made any more than a few pennies for a click at one of these places either, even though they claimed up to 80% share.

What I'm really interested in is a service, that will take my domain name, build a mini-site around it (autoblogger or whatever) optimized for SEO and marketed with a secret formula to drive loads of traffic and $100/mo profit!

There was exactly such a WSO recently... offered at an unbelievable price. Unfortunately, I can't get the guy to respond. Must be nice to be overloaded with business I guess. Anyway, I figure he's not the first to do it. Can anybody recommend a service like that?

      Thanks again!
  • Ken, if you have a fairly large portfolio of quality domains, I recommend you apply with SmartName.com. They will build a variety of different minisites and estores on your domains. They work at monetizing for you. All at no charge.
  • Someone offers to do something to your unused domain names in a recent WSO. Not bad.

I had 20 domains with them, all done up, nice and pretty.

Alternatively, just slap some PLR content (modify a little) related to your unused domain name and upload it to your hosting company. It does not cost much in hosting and Google sees it as a website that has content (even if they are all PLRs) and it is an aging domain name.

    • Thanks again for the useful responses everyone! The guy from the WSO got back with me so I think I'm going to give him a try. Thanks again!

  • You can sell them and take a biding of that and hence in this way you can earn a lot of money

    • You can park your domains at seoparking.com. There, you can have free cmtents if you are unable to write by yourself. You can as well list your domains at bargaindomains.com. But how fast your domain will sell depends on how good they are. There is a one time payment at bargandomains. Try them within your range.
Please compare this with the one from wso and let me know which is better. So I may follow the best one.
