Little Trick to Help Get The Best of Both Worlds With Article Marketing

If you read much of the posts that go through the Warrior Forum, you will see the many different opinions about certain areas of internet marketing. One of these things discussed often is how long should your article length be.

Some say writing 350 word articles that are quick and to the point. While others argue that writing longer articles (800+ words) will be better for your business. Both sides put up a good argument and both make sense.

The shorter article writers are more about playing the numbers game. The more content you produce, the better the chance you are going to have more traffic. The articles are created to build intrigue and have them ponder about clicking your link. You can see a lot of traffic if you do this every day. It's a great strategy and was the strategy that I used to make my first money on the web.

The other side suggests that you build the relationship better with an article and actually qualify your buyers a little more. This in part causes less people to click through your link, but the people that do click through buy much more often.

As with most arguments I see with internet marketing, I like to use a little bit of both. I've always believed variety is the way to go.

Now as a big believer in article marketing, I use a combination of the two methods that works out great for getting both benefits. Here's whats working great for me these days.

I have been writing super long articles. I mean like 2-5k word articles. It goes deep into a subject and has a building momentum to the subject I'm talking about. I post this large article (pillar article) to my website, but I split the thing into 350 word long pages. If I wrote a 3500 word article, I would have it split into 10 pages that all have their own separate article.

I write them to build onto each other and actually sound okay if you are to read them all in succession. This way I have the large anchor article on my website, with each section targeting a keyword. I also have 10 articles to rewrite quickly and post to EZA for my instant traffic. Each sectioned article posted to EZA is pointing to the next section on my site.

This will both play the numbers game, but also build trust with the qualified costumer that aren't so much the impulse buyers. The large sectioned articles also give you that authority site look and recognition. It's given me huge conversion rates the past month.

Thanks for the tip. I can see where this could be a very usable concept. Do you break the long article into separate web or blog pages or do you just run it all on the same page?

It's broken into different urls. On the bottom is a series of page numbers to go to the next article.

I haven't done much article writing, but would you say a shorter article would get more clicks to your site since there isn't as much time involved with reading/scrolling? Or do you think it just depends on the quality of the content if you have interested the user enough to check you out?

In my experience, you can get a burst of traffic anytime you want with short articles. It's just about putting enough out there. When you get article writing down, you will regularly write articles with a 30% click thru and much higher. You will also be able to write articles very quickly the more you write in a niche. So it's easy to pump out 15 articles in a couple hours. Now, the conversions drop slightly after the first click though.

When writing longer articles, you may get a smaller amount of total traffic, but the conversion from click to buy is much higher.

I like to have at least 100 longer articles on my niche websites that build the targeted buyers. After I have those 100 solid articles up, I start mass producing shorter articles to get the traffic coming in. The whole time it's building strength to the longer articles.

The 100 articles will be rehashed information sometimes, but most of the time you can find 100 keywords to focus the material on. Just try and not give everything away in one post. Leave it for more posts to come.

With this method, you can be talking about the same subject in general but hit 10 keywords and get 10 articles out of it.

    petelta, that is great idea!

I must admit I am a big fan of small "quality" SEO optimized articles using LS keywords to push my main keyword targets. However I can see the value in your method.

Your website gets some big articles which, in my opinion, the search engines love, and fast traffic from EZA, etc.

Only one thing I can see that would be a trade off......

If you seperated that big article on your site into different posts, you could optimize the individual posts/pages for that specific keyword.....

Meaning you would have a greater chance of ranking multiple posts/pages due to their "concentration" on one or two main keywords, rather than say 6 or more, you with me?

Whats your thoughts on that buddy?

I agree with you completely. I actually do that in some of my longer articles. I have some of them that target one keyword only and some that target one keyword per page. It all depends on what I'm trying to rank the most at the time and also what direction I'm taking the article.

It does work better for ranking purposes to target 2-3 keywords.

      Good observation.

I send them straight to my lead capture page. Before I was sending them to an affiliate link. That worked out great, but why waste all that "one time" traffic?

I use two links in my resources boxes. One always goes to a landing page for an autoresponder series I have set up (this is where I do all my promoting). The other will either go to the landing page as well, or to a main keyword article I'm trying to rank for.

I always rewrite my articles when publishing to EZA btw.

The shorter the article, the higher chances of a click through rate you get. I usually get about about 30%-45% CTR with a 255 word article and a very short resource box.

Like it ... don't think I've the patience for it but I like it. And I guess when you're in the 'flow' then it's easier to continue the momentum and keep those words coming out.

Thanks very much - will be trying shortly!

I used to mass submit the same article to thousands of directories. I had success in the past with that. As things have progressed for me and my results, I have seen much greater effect from having everything you put on the web be different. Rewriting a 350 word article takes about 3-5 minutes once you do it enough and read John Swartz' Article Rewriting WSO (I don't have the link.)

Submitting unique content is most important for me when posting to my main directories:

      EZA
      GoArticles
      ArticleDash
      Squidoo
      iSnare
      WetPaint
Two niche specific places to post content...for example any niche relating to women, I post to divinecaroline.com

I mass submit spun versions of all my articles to a couple hundred other article directories with Incansoft's ArticleBot.

It's not duplicate content to post your article to your website and to EZA as long as you have the same author name. But like I said, you will see better long term results if you submit a rehashed version. It's only a little bit of extra work that is much worth it.
