My first $1000 DAY and 3 Takeaways for you.

It's only 8PM here but my balance for the day currently stands at $1.012. This is the first time I have broken the $1000/day milestone. I've come close many times, but have never quite broken it until today. I didn't plan this post, I'm writing it reflectively as I look back on the success of my day.

How did I do it? Social Marketing. I'm not going to lay out all the details, because it'd be of no benefit to you. No magic pills here. But more important than the methods and magic pills are a few timeless principles that allowed me to make this happen. I'll share 3 takeaways with you that I believe allowed me to have this success today.
1. Adapt FAST and act IMMEDIATELY
I've talked about the importance of adapting in an earlier post of mine but what I didn't really drive home was the importance of being QUICK at doing it. I made my small fortune today off a news event that broke earlier in the morning (am's). As I read the story the wheels started churning and I IMMEDIATELY started forming an outline on how I could spin this into a successful social campaign. I stayed awake an extra hour creating a website and doing some quick promotion of it before going to bed. When I woke up a few hours later I already had over $250 sitting in my account at this network. I barely even promoted the thing! I continued striking the iron while it was hot, promoting my website through various social marketing avenues throughout the day. But the point is, had I not acted IMMEDIATELY I would have made only a fraction of what I ended up making, if anything at all (considering this was a brief news event)

2. LEAD don't follow, PRO-Act don't RE-Act.
Within a few hours of setting up my site and promoting it I saw several other websites popping up exactly like mine...No, I mean exactly. They ripped the source code and simply slapped on their offers and began promoting it on the same avenues that I was. But they were simply REACTING to my actions, copying them, thus they were stuck several steps behind where I already was at the moment. They were only left the morsels behind my wake, while I was already poaching in new hunting ground. I was PRO-active. I saw the event, I made my own plan and I executed it. They saw what I was doing, RE-acted to it and couldn't keep with the pace. I'm sure they made some money in the process, and certainly modeling (not ripping off) is a great form of learning, but real money is made by going off the beaten road and laying down your own.

3. You need to UNDERSTAND what you're doing. Knowing isn't enough.

Just like I am doing here, breaking down the fundamental principles behind everything and understanding WHY it works the way it does is KEY. The marketers who tried copying what I was doing had no clue whatsoever about what THEY were doing. If they did they wouldn't have blatantly copied me and followed me around trying to imitate my methods. They simply expressed an action without any underlying thought as to WHY they were doing it. Always deconstruct everything and understand it. This is a critical skill. If you can do this, you will NEVER go hungry. Principles NEVER change, only circumstances do. If you understand the principles you will always be able to continuously adapt to new circumstances and LEAD the others who react to you. You need to pull back the curtains and meet the Wizard.

EDIT: Actually I forgot a very important 4th point here and that is...

SET GOALS:

My goal was actually to BREAK 1k on that day with what I was promoting. Making big goals pulls you toward them. Even if you don't hit your mark you will still get much farther than had you not made a goal or stuck with a "realistic" one instead. Had I made my goal to break 500 that day I most likely would not have had the drive and focus to break 1k. I might have hit 400-600, but simply by making my goal more "un"realistic I ended up with much more in my wallet because I was more focused and compelled to do whatever it takes. And of course if you have no goals at all, you will be wandering aimlessly... So GET a GOAL and make it UNrealistic.

    Congrats!

I remember my first 1k day.. thought I was the hottest thing in marketing since... ?

Looking back, that was an amazing day.. knowing I could achieve something like that.. but trying to make it again the next day brought me back down to Earth.

It's fantastic news, I'm so pleased for you

Give it another 12-18 months, I bet you'll be seeing many 1k days on a regular basis. It's not as hard as some people would have you believe, is it?

"Consistency" is the tricky part, for sure....It's nice to get a $1,000/day, but, sustaining it is the tricky part....

    QFT.

What is easy. Everyone knows what. The people who make the big bucks know why.

Thanks for the tips, I'm still struggling with making $100 a day.

I've notice that if you spread out between too many objectives and goals you lose your focus and concentration not to mention resource and time that you end up with nothing.

Now I'm just trying to be more focus and goal orientated pursuing one thing at a time.

Right now I'm trying to work on my ebook sales and building my list.

Phillips - your reaction to the breaking news this morning was to market an affiliate product purely via social media (facebook, myspace, twitter)? Just trying to understand what your funnel is for such quick responses.

It was a CPA offer. Otherwise, yes. I basically fired up some tools, created an action plan and pulled the trigger.

It isn't very hard once you setup different streams of income. That is great news, once you get it for the first time is is a little hard but maintaining is harder.

I truly admire people like you who are quick at the
gun. Personally, I was never able to get the "fast
action, news" CPA method to work, and I tried a
    few times.

I'm sure it's just me but, it's that kind of quick turn
changes that turn me away from those methods.

It's volatile -- like the stock markets -- and it reminds
me of speculating the stock markets. Your certainly
    on top of your game.

Again, I admire people who can sprint to the finish
line. I'm more like the tortoise than the hare in any
business race. And, different personalities match
with different ways of making money. Great job man!
