Hi there all,

Just a quick Google Maps question -(cant get used to the new Google Places name !!)

What criteria makes the local businesses move up and down the top 7 that are listed. Is there a No.1 enhancement I can make to stick at No.1 ?

    If you have done the basic, so filled ALL details, then just reviews and lots of them if needed

    I have optimised my entry for my keyword and added 5 categories. How do I get reviews ?

      Enticing your customers to actually leave reviews is the best method. Also some other factors you may want to consider to help your chances at best placement is give as much info as possible. More photos and videos seem to help as well as coupons. Basically the most content pertaining to your business the better off you'll be.

        1. Completely fill out profile, load your profile up with keywords you want to show up on maps for.

        2. Connect your Map with your Google Profile and Google Local Business listing.

        3. Add lots of Blogs, Video's and Articles keyword driven to your description on both Profile, Local Business and Maps.

        4. Ask you customers to write reviews

        5. Promote your Google Map and Profile on your Blog or Website.

        6. Submit your map/places URL to all the directories you can.

          So I've heard to submit your local address to the directories. I guess submitting your places URL is also good?

      Just ask your friends and family, contacts whatever.
      If the #1 position has 10 reviews beat him!

      what I said before, be sure you have filled all details in your account.
      ALL details!

    Yes, I believe it is the reviews that determine it's position.
    I would have to agree with MikeD. Ask friends and family to
    leave some reviews.
